Tax Intern Jobs in Idaho: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a tax intern in Idaho?
The most direct path is enrolling in an accounting or finance degree program at an Idaho institution such as Boise State University, University of Idaho, or Idaho State University, then applying to internships before your junior or senior year. Idaho does not require a state license to work as a tax intern, but passing parts of the CPA exam or pursuing the 150-credit requirement early signals commitment and gives candidates a clear edge with local employers.
Which companies hire tax interns in Idaho?
Employers hiring tax interns in Idaho right now include Intuit, KPMG, and Sorren, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Idaho's mix of regional CPA firms, technology manufacturers, and large healthcare systems creates a varied range of internship environments across public accounting and corporate tax departments.
Which Idaho cities have the most tax intern jobs?
The cities with the most tax intern openings in Idaho are Boise, Meridian, and Twin Falls. Boise drives the bulk of listings as Idaho's largest metro and home to regional firm headquarters and corporate finance offices, while Idaho Falls and Pocatello generate openings through energy, healthcare, and manufacturing employers that maintain in-house tax functions.
Are there remote tax intern jobs in Idaho?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 19% of tax intern openings tied to Idaho are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how much of the day-to-day work involves reviewing documents and preparing returns in software rather than on-site tasks. Research, data entry, and individual tax preparation are the sub-areas most commonly offered in remote formats.
How can I get hired as a tax intern in Idaho with little or no experience?
The strongest entry path is applying directly to public accounting firms in Boise and Idaho Falls that run structured campus recruiting programs, including Big Four offices and regional firms such as Eide Bailly and Moss Adams, both of which maintain Idaho operations and recruit new accounting students without prior professional experience. A completed federal income tax course, a VITA volunteer tax preparation certification, or coursework in Idaho state tax law gives a resume immediate relevance and compensates for a thin work history.
Where can I find and apply to tax intern jobs in Idaho?
You can find and apply to tax intern jobs in Idaho on Migrate Mate, which lists current Idaho openings from employers actively hiring right now. Search the available roles, find ones that fit your background and availability, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
