Legal Intern Jobs in Idaho: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a legal intern in Idaho?
To work as a legal intern in Idaho, you must be enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school and, if you want to appear in court under supervision, register under Idaho's student practice rule with the Idaho State Bar. That registration allows qualified law students to represent clients under a licensed attorney's direct supervision. Most positions require completion of your first year of law school, and Idaho employers typically prioritize candidates with strong legal writing samples.
Which companies hire legal interns in Idaho?
Idaho legal intern roles are posted by State of Idaho, Gem County, and Stoel Rives LLP and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Idaho's mix of energy utilities, technology manufacturers, and state government agencies creates a steady pipeline of internship openings across regulatory, corporate, and public-sector legal teams.
Which Idaho cities have the most legal intern jobs?
Boise, Emmett, and Caldwell have the most legal intern openings in Idaho. Boise drives the largest share because it is home to the state capitol, the Idaho Supreme Court, the federal district court, and the headquarters of major employers like Idaho Power and Micron, while Idaho Falls and Pocatello draw openings from regional law firms, healthcare systems, and state agency satellite offices.
Are there remote legal intern jobs in Idaho?
Yes, but they're rare. Legal intern work is heavily document-driven and court-adjacent, which means most roles require on-site presence for court filings, client meetings, and attorney supervision. About 40% of legal intern openings tied to Idaho are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with the remote-eligible subset mostly concentrated in legal research, document review, and compliance writing tasks.
How can I get hired as a legal intern in Idaho with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to the Idaho Attorney General's Office or the Idaho Public Defender system, both of which run structured internship programs designed for first-year law students with no prior legal work experience. Volunteering at Idaho Legal Aid Services builds a writing portfolio and references quickly. Paralegal or legal assistant roles at Boise-area firms are a strong lateral move, and registering with the Idaho State Bar's student practice program signals readiness to supervise-eligible employers.
Where can I find and apply to legal intern jobs in Idaho?
You can find and apply to legal intern jobs in Idaho on Migrate Mate, which lists current Idaho openings from employers across the state. Search the listings, find roles that fit your practice area interests and availability, and apply directly to each employer through the posting.
