COMMERCIAL PLUMBING ESTIMATOR / PROJECT MANAGER
$60,000 Base + Performance Bonus + Company Truck
Advantage Air Mechanical is an established Tucson mechanical contractor looking for an experienced Commercial Plumbing Estimator / Project Manager.
This is a hands-on commercial construction position. You will estimate the work, manage the project, direct the field crews and stay involved from bid through completion.
Our project managers are not sitting behind a desk managing projects from a spreadsheet. You need to understand the work, know what your crews are doing and be willing to step into the field when necessary to get a project through a difficult spot.
What You Will DoEstimate the Work
- Review plans, specifications and bid documents
- Perform complete plumbing takeoffs
- Estimate labor, material, equipment and subcontractor costs
- Obtain vendor and subcontractor pricing
- Identify scope gaps, exclusions and project risks
- Prepare bids and proposals
- Participate in final bid review
Run the Project
- Manage awarded projects from turnover through completion
- Plan labor, material, equipment and sequencing
- Direct and manage plumbing foremen, plumbers and helpers
- Assign manpower based on project needs and schedule
- Visit jobs regularly and know the actual status of the work
- Coordinate with general contractors and other trades
- Attend project meetings
- Handle submittals, RFIs and project documentation
- Purchase and release material and equipment
- Identify, price and track change orders
- Monitor estimated versus actual labor and material
- Keep the project on schedule and within budget
- Manage punch list and closeout
Be Part of the Field Team
This position requires someone who is comfortable on a commercial jobsite.
You are expected to manage the men and the work, solve field problems and help your crews succeed.
Most of the time your job is to plan, direct and manage the work, not perform it yourself. However, when a project gets into a tight spot, you must be willing and able to put on your tools and work alongside the crew when needed.
Some projects will require more hands-on involvement than others. That flexibility is part of the position.
Who We Are Looking For
We need someone with real commercial plumbing construction experience.
The right person may currently be:
- A commercial plumbing estimator/project manager
- A plumbing foreman or superintendent who has estimating experience
- An experienced commercial plumber who has already been running crews and projects
- A former plumbing contractor who wants to manage projects without carrying the entire burden of owning the company
You must be able to read commercial plumbing drawings and specifications, understand plumbing code and installation practices, estimate labor realistically, manage field personnel, communicate with general contractors and take responsibility for the performance of your projects.
Commercial plumbing experience is required. Residential-only experience does not qualify.
