Estimator Jobs in Seattle: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a estimator job in Seattle?
The strongest path into Seattle estimating is through the construction and infrastructure sectors, where general contractors, mechanical and electrical subcontractors, and civil engineering firms in SoDo, Sodo, and the Eastside hire consistently. Specializing in commercial construction, heavy civil, or utilities gives you a clear edge. Candidates who demonstrate familiarity with local subcontractor networks and Pacific Northwest material costs stand out in this market.
Which companies hire estimators in Seattle?
Employers hiring estimators in Seattle right now include BNBuilders, DPR Construction, and Performance Contracting, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Seattle's hiring mix leans toward large general contractors, specialty trade firms, and public utilities serving the region's ongoing transit, waterfront, and commercial development projects.
Are there remote estimator jobs in Seattle?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the role, since field-dependent estimating tied to site visits is rarely fully remote, while takeoff, bid analysis, and cost modeling work can be done offsite. About 34% of estimator openings tied to Seattle are remote or hybrid as of September 2026. Desk-based estimators working in software, technology infrastructure, or preconstruction planning see the most remote flexibility locally.
How can I get a estimator job in Seattle with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point in Seattle is a project coordinator or assistant estimator role at a mid-size general contractor or specialty subcontractor in the SoDo or Eastside construction corridor. Seattle-area community colleges offer construction management programs that feed directly into local firms. Demonstrating takeoff software skills, even self-taught, and applying to firms active in Seattle's light rail and mixed-use development pipeline significantly improves early-career prospects.
Which industries hire the most estimators in Seattle?
Seattle estimator roles concentrate in Construction & Real Estate and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Seattle's sustained investment in transit infrastructure, commercial high-rise development, and utilities expansion keeps demand across these sectors consistently above national averages.
