Who's Hiring

Field Technician Jobs in Chicago: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a field technician job in Chicago?
Focus your search on Chicago's utility, telecom, and facilities management sectors, which post the most field technician openings consistently. Companies operating in the Loop, along the North Shore industrial belt, and in the southwest side manufacturing corridors hire regularly. Candidates with hands-on certifications, a clean driving record, and familiarity with Chicago's infrastructure landscape stand out, as do those who apply directly and follow up with local branch offices.
Which companies hire field technicians in Chicago?
Chicago field technician roles are posted by NCR, Hilton, and Unisys and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Chicago's mix of large utility providers, regional telecom contractors, and national facilities services firms creates consistent demand across the metro area.
Are there remote field technician jobs in Chicago?
Yes, but only for a subset of the role, since most field technician work is inherently hands-on and site-based. About 31% of field technician openings tied to Chicago are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting positions in technical coordination, dispatch, or remote diagnostics rather than on-site installation or repair. Chicago's large enterprise and healthcare sectors account for most of those desk-based openings.
How can I get a field technician job in Chicago with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Chicago is through a helper or technician trainee role with a regional utility contractor or facilities management company. Chicago-area employers like large building management firms in the Loop and suburban industrial parks regularly hire entry-level candidates for structured apprenticeships. Completing a trade program at one of Chicago's community colleges and obtaining a basic EPA 608 or low-voltage certification gives you a concrete edge over other applicants without prior field experience.
