Field Technician Jobs in Memphis: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a field technician job in Memphis?
Focus your search on Memphis's strongest hiring sectors: utilities and energy infrastructure, telecommunications, medical device and hospital equipment services, and the large logistics and distribution operations tied to the airport corridor. Employers in these sectors hire regularly and often value hands-on technical certifications over four-year degrees. Candidates who can demonstrate experience with the specific equipment used in industrial or healthcare settings, and who hold a valid CDL or relevant OSHA certification, tend to move through Memphis hiring processes faster than generalists.
Which companies hire field technicians in Memphis?
Employers hiring field technicians in Memphis right now include Xylem, Tesla, and Hyosung, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Memphis's mix of major medical institutions, regional utilities, and large-scale distribution and logistics operations means both national service contractors and locally headquartered companies maintain active field technician headcounts throughout the year.
Are there remote field technician jobs in Memphis?
Yes, though remote work is the exception in this field because most field technician roles require physical presence to install, service, or inspect equipment on-site. About 0% of field technician openings tied to Memphis are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those tend to be coordination, technical support, or diagnostic roles where documentation and customer communication can be handled off-site rather than the hands-on fieldwork itself.
How can I get a field technician job in Memphis with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Memphis is through helper or technician assistant roles with regional utilities, telecommunications contractors, or medical equipment service companies, which regularly hire for on-the-job training positions. Southwest Tennessee Community College offers technical programs that Memphis employers recognize, and staffing firms placed with industrial and logistics clients near the airport frequently have entry-level openings. Showing up with a valid driver's license, basic hand-tool familiarity, and a willingness to work variable schedules gives entry-level candidates a meaningful edge in Memphis's hiring pool.
Which industries hire the most field technicians in Memphis?
Most field technician openings in Memphis sit in Manufacturing, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Memphis's role as a major freight and logistics hub, combined with its concentration of healthcare facilities and regional utility infrastructure, creates sustained demand for field technicians who can service and maintain the equipment those industries depend on.
