Hardware & RF Support Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY

The Hardware & RF Support Engineer delivers advanced technical support for end-user and enterprise hardware across the client environment, with a primary focus on desktop, laptop, peripheral, and infrastructure hardware diagnostics, repair, and lifecycle management. This role also supports radio frequency (RF) devices, including handheld scanners, mobile computers, wireless access points, and other RF-enabled equipment used in warehouse and industrial environments. The incumbent exercises independent technical judgment in diagnosing complex hardware and RF device issues, coordinating repairs and replacements, and ensuring reliable equipment performance across the site. This position is based in Memphis, Tennessee, and requires field support activities, including travel to client sites as needed to resolve hardware and RF device issues.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Hardware Support & End-User Devices

• Provides advanced Level II hardware support, including desktop, laptop, printer, and peripheral diagnostics, repair, and replacement across the client environment
• Resolves escalated hardware incidents requiring in-depth technical analysis beyond standard Level I procedures, maintaining full ownership through resolution
• Supports device lifecycle activities including imaging, deployment, refresh, and decommission, ensuring accurate asset tracking and documentation throughout
• Collaborates with the broader hardware support team on deployment and refresh projects, contributing technical expertise to site-wide initiatives

RF (Radio Frequency) Device Support

• Provides support for RF-enabled devices, including handheld scanners, mobile computers, wireless access points, and other RF equipment used in warehouse and industrial environments
• Applies working knowledge of RF network fundamentals to troubleshoot connectivity, signal, and configuration issues on RF devices
• Proactively monitors RF device health and connectivity, identifying degradation patterns and initiating remediation activities to prevent service-impacting events
• Maintains accurate technical documentation for supported RF devices, including configuration baselines, inventory records, and change records

Incident Resolution & Technical Escalation

• Serves as the designated technical escalation point for complex hardware and RF device incidents, applying advanced diagnostic judgment to resolve issues beyond the capability of general support tiers
• Leads incident response for critical hardware and device failures, exercising independent judgment to triage, coordinate, and resolve high-severity events in alignment with SLA requirements
• Conducts post-incident reviews and root cause analyses, recommending and implementing corrective measures to prevent recurrence

Implementation, Upgrades & Project Delivery

• Plans and executes technical implementation and upgrade activities for hardware and RF device deployments, including scoping, scheduling, testing, and deployment coordination
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams, vendors, and client stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of hardware and RF technology initiatives with minimal disruption to business operations
• Evaluates emerging hardware and RF technologies, providing technical recommendations to leadership regarding adoption, compatibility, and operational impact
• Maintains accountability for project deliverables within scope, documenting outcomes and communicating status throughout the engagement lifecycle

Administrative & Production Support

• Provides administrative and operational support to the delivery team, including documentation management, reporting contributions, and logistical coordination for site-based and field activities
• Supports production environment activities, ensuring technical readiness and proper coordination of resources during planned and unplanned events
• Assists in tracking and managing operational workflows, contributing to process adherence and delivery consistency across the account

Service Continuity & Standards Compliance

• Ensures the hardware and RF device service areas operate in compliance with applicable enterprise standards, security requirements, and contractual obligations
• Partners with infrastructure and security teams to support asset security, access management, and compliance activities
• Develops and maintains service continuity plans for critical hardware and RF systems to minimize risk in the event of unplanned outages or failures

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• 3+ years of experience supporting enterprise desktop/laptop hardware environments; RF device support experience a plus
• Advanced knowledge of desktop/laptop hardware, peripherals, Windows operating systems, and end-user computing support practices
• Working knowledge of RF devices and wireless network fundamentals (Wi-Fi, 802.11, RF scanners/mobile computers) preferred
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex hardware technical incidents and drive resolution with minimal direction
• Experience leading or contributing to hardware deployment, refresh, and upgrade projects in enterprise environments
• Strong documentation skills and the ability to translate technical concepts for cross-functional stakeholders
• CompTIA A+ or equivalent certification (preferred); RF/wireless certification (e.g., CWNA) a plus

Additional Requirement of the Position:

· This position requires field support activities, including frequent travel between client sites in the Memphis, Tennessee area, potentially using a personal vehicle.

· Maintain a high standard of business and ethical conduct with end-user, clients, customers and employees.

· Perform related other duties as assigned by management.

· Follow workplace operating and environmental, health and safety procedures and guidelines.

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
