Purpose Statement: The Center Manager manages the day-to-day operations of a Head Start/Early Head Start Center. This position provides supervision to all center-based staff. In addition, the Center Manager ensures adherence to all applicable licensing and performance standards/head start act and staffing patterns/ratios.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Supervise assigned centers and employees to ensure that the day-to-day operation of the site is conducted according to center licensing, program procedures, accreditations, and Performance Standards requirements.
2. Order center supplies as needed based on monitoring inventory of supplies.
3. Support staff by assisting in areas of short staffing or vacancies occur ongoing; willingness to work in classroom if needed.
4. Responsible for leading staff positively in your leadership role.
5. Maintain work schedules for employees and approve mileage, time, attendance and leave.
6. Prepare, conduct, and document employee meetings and planning sessions.
7. Assist in recruitment and training of volunteers working with community service programs.
8. Inform the Area Manager immediately when problems or emergencies occur.
9. Participate and support recruitment activities so that full enrollment and the 10% children with disabilities mandate is maintained throughout the program year.
10. Establish and maintain partnerships through participation in local organizations, community groups, and collaborations with school systems.
11. Assist with obtaining contractual agreements with health service professionals, Early Intervention Systems, mental health consultants, local education agencies, school system food services and community partnerships by established deadlines.
12. Coordinate with center staff to ensure facilities, outdoor areas, buses, and equipment are in good repair, clean, attractive, and well maintained.
13. Attend IFSP, IEP, transition, and behavioral meetings with staff.
14. Support the staff by meeting with parents with chronic tardiness, absenteeism, and other center related issues.
15. Conduct daily classroom checks to ensure active supervision and appropriate teaching practices are demonstrated by the teaching staff.
16. Submit employee training rosters and staff meetings to Area Manager.
17. Scheduling staffing patterns in compliance with federal Head Start Performance Standards and licensing requirements.
18. Assist and monitor Corrective Action Plan(s), evaluation, discipline, staff qualification and professional development progress.
19. Support and assist family advocate(s) with parent involvement and program governance activities.
20. Attend training, professional development meetings and workshops pertaining to all program areas and obtain the required Department of Human Service training hours.
21. Preserve the confidentiality and integrity of all program information.
