Hybrid Field Technician and Technical Support Specialist
Department: Meters
Location: Nashville TN (Remote)
Position Overview
We are seeking a versatile specialist to balance hands-on field operations with technical support duties. This is a dual-function role where approximately half of your time is spent on-site performing installations and repairs, and the other half is spent at a computer providing technical guidance and communication for our back-office team.
You will serve as a bridge between the physical equipment in the field and our internal data systems. We provide full training on our specific meter systems; we are looking for candidates with mechanical aptitude, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage their time effectively between two different work environments.
Primary Responsibilities
Field Operations (Approximately 50%)
- Install, program, and configure submeters and communication systems in multifamily and retail environments.
- Perform routine inspections, calibrations, and repairs on water, gas, and electric submeters.
- Diagnose performance or data transmission issues on-site using hand tools and technical software.
- Adhere to safety guidelines while working at heights (ladders up to 10 feet) and in cramped conditions like attic spaces.
- Interact with property managers and residents to explain system functionality and address concerns.
Technical Support and Coordination (Approximately 50%)
- Act as a support resource for other field technicians when they encounter technical challenges.
- Provide clear explanations to clients and leadership regarding technical issues and their resolutions.
- Research complex or unfamiliar systems to find solutions in a timely manner.
Schedule and Travel
- 50% travel may be required. This includes domestic travel via flight or company vehicle.
- The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 8-hour shifts.
- Travel to and from job sites may occur on weekends, and Saturdays may be required based on project volume.
Requirements
- Proficiency with Windows-based laptops, including basic experience with Excel and Gmail.
- Strong mechanical inclination and experience working with a variety of hand tools.
- Ability to explain complex technical issues clearly, both verbally and in writing.
- Physical ability to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces.
- Ability to work independently and maintain productivity under pressure.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Must have a Real ID for domestic air travel.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Must have a secure area to park a company vehicle, a designated home workspace for administrative duties, and access to high-speed internet.
Equipment and Training
- Conservice provides a company vehicle, gas card, laptop, cell phone, and all required tools.
- We provide up to 6 weeks of comprehensive training; travel may be required during the training period.
