Financial Data Analyst Jobs in Maine: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a financial data analyst in Maine?
Most financial data analyst roles in Maine require a bachelor's degree in finance, statistics, economics, or a related field, and no state-issued license applies to the role directly. Employers in Maine's banking and healthcare sectors strongly favor candidates who hold the Chartered Financial Analyst credential or the Certified Analytics Professional designation. Building proficiency in SQL, Python, and financial modeling tools alongside relevant coursework or a master's degree sharpens competitiveness for roles at Maine's larger employers.
How much do financial data analysts make in Maine?
Financial data analysts in Maine earn a median of about $88,320 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $64,110 for the lowest 10% to over $133,270 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire financial data analysts in Maine?
Employers hiring financial data analysts in Maine right now include Bank of America, MaineHealth, and Ryder System, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Healthcare systems, regional banks, and insurance carriers represent the most consistent sources of openings across the state.
Which Maine cities have the most financial data analyst jobs?
Bangor, Portland, and Augusta account for the largest share of financial data analyst openings in Maine. Portland drives the most activity as the state's commercial and financial hub, anchored by regional banks, insurance companies, and healthcare networks, while Augusta's concentration of state government agencies and Bangor's growing healthcare and financial services sector sustain demand in those markets.
Are there remote financial data analyst jobs in Maine?
Yes, and more than most fields, since financial data analysis is desk-based and output-focused work that translates naturally to remote environments. About 45% of financial data analyst openings tied to Maine are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how broadly employers in finance and healthcare have embraced flexible arrangements for this role. Roles centered on independent modeling, reporting, and data pipeline work are the most likely to be fully remote.
How can I get hired as a financial data analyst in Maine with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a junior analyst or analyst associate role at one of Maine's regional banks, credit unions, or healthcare finance departments, where rotational programs and on-the-job mentorship are common for new graduates. MaineHealth and Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of Maine both bring in early-career analysts through structured programs. Lateral moves from roles in accounting, financial operations, or business intelligence also open the door, and building a portfolio of SQL queries, dashboards, or financial models in GitHub strengthens any application significantly.
Where can I find and apply to financial data analyst jobs in Maine?
You can find and apply to financial data analyst jobs in Maine on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring across the state. Search the available roles, identify the ones that match your background and preferences, and apply directly to whichever listings fit.
