Financial Data Analyst Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a financial data analyst in Texas?
Most financial data analyst roles in Texas require a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, statistics, or a quantitative field. Texas does not require a state-issued license for this role, but employers consistently value credentials like the CFA, CPA, or a certification in a BI tool. Candidates who combine a relevant degree with hands-on SQL and data visualization skills are the most competitive in the Texas market.
How much do financial data analysts make in Texas?
Financial data analysts in Texas earn a median of about $99,150 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $63,230 for the lowest 10% to over $169,990 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire financial data analysts in Texas?
Employers hiring financial data analysts in Texas right now include Ally Financial, Kestra Financial, and Virtu Financial, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of energy majors, large regional banks, and Fortune 500 headquarters means demand is spread across multiple industries rather than limited to one sector.
Which Texas cities have the most financial data analyst jobs?
Austin, Dallas, and Irving have the most financial data analyst openings in Texas. Houston's energy and petrochemical industry, Dallas's dense concentration of financial services firms and corporate headquarters, and Austin's growing technology and fintech sector each drive consistent hiring in their metro areas.
Are there remote financial data analyst jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 32% of financial data analyst openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting that most of the work involves data systems and reporting tools accessible from anywhere. Modeling, reporting, and BI development roles are the most likely to be offered fully remote.
How can I get hired as a financial data analyst in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an analyst associate or junior analyst role at a large Texas employer such as a regional bank, energy company, or insurance carrier. Many Dallas and Houston firms run rotational analyst programs designed for recent graduates. Building a portfolio of SQL queries and Tableau or Power BI dashboards using public datasets, and earning an entry-level certification in a BI platform, gives candidates a concrete edge when applying without prior industry experience.
Where can I find and apply to financial data analyst jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to financial data analyst jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to Texas employers. Find the roles that fit your background and apply directly from each listing.
