Eaton’s Residential Wiring Device division is currently seeking a Firmware Engineering Intern / Co-op .
This position can either be a rotational co-op assignment, or a Summer 2027 internship.
The hourly rate for this position is $22.15 - $27.69 per hour . Please note that the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
The Firmware Engineering Intern / Co-Op will perform electronic circuit design, both analog and digital, for products related to our Assemblies and Residential Solutions Division.
In this function, you will:
- Contribute to firmware and software development for embedded systems/microcontrollers.
- Support software development using code repositories, code reviews, build servers, and agile methods.
- Stay abreast of market trends and emerging technologies globally, with a particular emphasis on embedded and connected systems, and evaluate their potential impact on Eaton’s business.
- Support the research and development of business cases in the new product development cycle to understand the viability of proposed products in the marketplace.
- Support the enhancement of existing products and services based on evaluations of existing and new technologies per Eaton’s strategic plans.
- Represent Eaton’s interests on councils and committees tasked with developing codes and standards for emerging technologies in which Eaton is investing.
- Support and perform technical evaluations of third-party solutions and assess opportunities to develop partnerships or identify new suppliers.
- Support product certification activities, including UL/CSA.

Basic (Required) Qualifications:
- Must be actively enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or similar from an accredited institution with graduation no later than August 2029
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
