Full Stack Developer Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a full stack developer in Pennsylvania?
Full stack developer roles in Pennsylvania require no state-issued license, so the path runs through demonstrated technical skill and education. Most employers in Pennsylvania expect a bachelor's degree in computer science or a closely related field, though coding bootcamp graduates and self-taught developers who can show production-quality work are hired regularly. Philadelphia and Pittsburgh both have active developer communities and universities that produce strong pipeline talent for local employers.
How much do full stack developers make in Pennsylvania?
Full stack developers in Pennsylvania earn a median of about $126,550 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $77,750 for the lowest 10% to over $178,080 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire full stack developers in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring full stack developers in Pennsylvania right now include BNY, Intone Networks, and Arctiq, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Pennsylvania's concentration of financial services firms, large health systems, and defense technology contractors means demand is distributed across industries rather than clustered in a single sector.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most full stack developer jobs?
Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Malvern account for the largest share of full stack developer openings in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia dominates due to its fintech, healthcare IT, and media technology employers, while Pittsburgh draws significant hiring from robotics, AI research, and Carnegie Mellon-adjacent software firms, and smaller markets like Malvern and Wayne in the Philadelphia suburbs reflect the density of financial services headquarters in that corridor.
Are there remote full stack developer jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 69% of full stack developer openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the desk-based and collaborative nature of software development work. Front-end and API-focused roles tend to carry the highest share of fully remote postings, while roles requiring on-site collaboration with hardware teams or regulated financial systems more often require at least a hybrid presence.
How can I get hired as a full stack developer in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a junior developer or associate software engineer role, which large Pennsylvania employers in fintech and healthcare IT hire for regularly, often through new-graduate programs. Comcast and major Philadelphia-area health systems run structured associate programs for candidates without professional experience. A portfolio of deployed personal or open-source projects carries more weight than years of experience in most Pennsylvania interviews, and candidates moving laterally from QA, data analyst, or IT support roles are competitive candidates for junior full stack openings.
Where can I find and apply to full stack developer jobs in Pennsylvania?
You can find and apply to full stack developer jobs in Pennsylvania on Migrate Mate, which lists current Pennsylvania openings updated regularly. Find the roles that fit your experience and location, then apply directly to each employer. No account creation is required to search or apply.
