Full Stack Developer Jobs in Maryland: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a full stack developer in Maryland?
Full stack developer work in Maryland does not require a state-issued license or certification. Most employers look for a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or information technology, though a strong portfolio demonstrating proficiency in both front-end and back-end technologies carries significant weight. Maryland's concentration of federal contractors and healthcare IT employers means security clearance eligibility and familiarity with HIPAA-compliant systems give candidates a measurable advantage in the local market.
How much do full stack developers make in Maryland?
Full stack developers in Maryland earn a median of about $138,680 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $87,690 for the lowest 10% to over $222,610 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire full stack developers in Maryland?
Employers hiring full stack developers in Maryland right now include Staffed4U, LCG, and Leidos, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Maryland's mix of defense contractors, federal agency technology partners, and health system IT departments creates demand for full stack developers with both commercial and government-adjacent project experience.
Which Maryland cities have the most full stack developer jobs?
Annapolis Junction, Rockville, and Bethesda account for the largest share of full stack developer openings in Maryland. Baltimore anchors the market through its health system and university research institutions, while Bethesda and the surrounding Montgomery County corridor draw hiring from federal contractors and health-focused technology companies with offices close to Washington D.C.
Are there remote full stack developer jobs in Maryland?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 57% of full stack developer openings tied to Maryland are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how naturally the role adapts to distributed work. Front-end development, API work, and cloud architecture tasks are the most consistently offered in remote formats, while roles involving classified government systems or on-site infrastructure typically require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a full stack developer in Maryland with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a combination of a completed portfolio and a targeted application to associate or junior developer programs at Maryland's large technology employers. Organizations like Leidos and SAIC run early-career technology programs for candidates without prior professional experience. Lateral moves from QA analyst, IT support, or data analyst roles are a common door into development teams. A CompTIA Security+ certification adds real value given how many Maryland employers work on government contracts requiring security awareness.
Where can I find and apply to full stack developer jobs in Maryland?
You can find and apply to full stack developer jobs in Maryland on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience and location preferences, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
