Quality Assurance Engineer Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a quality assurance engineer in Pennsylvania?
Pennsylvania does not require a state-issued license to work as a quality assurance engineer, so most employers look for a bachelor's degree in engineering, life sciences, or computer science combined with relevant work experience. In regulated industries like pharmaceuticals and medical devices, which are prominent across the Philadelphia suburbs and Lehigh Valley, employers expect familiarity with FDA quality regulations and GMP practices. Professional credentials from the American Society for Quality, such as the Certified Quality Engineer designation, strengthen candidates significantly in Pennsylvania's competitive market.
Which companies hire quality assurance engineers in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring quality assurance engineers in Pennsylvania right now include Victaulic, KeystoneCare, and Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Pennsylvania's concentration of pharmaceutical manufacturers, defense contractors, and software firms in the Philadelphia region and Pittsburgh means quality assurance roles appear across a broad range of industries and company sizes.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most quality assurance engineer jobs?
Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Bethlehem have the most quality assurance engineer openings in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia and its surrounding suburbs anchor the largest share of listings because of the region's dense pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device industry base, while Pittsburgh draws demand from software development and aerospace and defense employers concentrated in that metro.
Are there remote quality assurance engineer jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, and quality assurance engineering offers more remote opportunity than many technical roles, particularly for software QA and test automation positions where the work is desk-based and tool-driven. About 30% of quality assurance engineer openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how common distributed teams are in tech and SaaS companies. Roles in regulated manufacturing, lab environments, or hardware testing are much more likely to require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a quality assurance engineer in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is targeting associate QA analyst or quality technician roles at Pennsylvania's large pharmaceutical and contract manufacturing organizations, many of which run structured new-graduate programs that train candidates on GMP practices and internal quality systems from day one. Employers in the Greater Philadelphia life sciences corridor and Lehigh Valley manufacturing sector regularly hire candidates from adjacent roles like production associate, lab technician, or technical support who already understand regulated environments. Earning an ASQ Certified Quality Improvement Associate credential before applying gives candidates without direct QA experience a concrete advantage.
Where can I find and apply to quality assurance engineer jobs in Pennsylvania?
