Solutions Architect Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a solutions architect in Pennsylvania?
Solutions architect is not a state-licensed profession in Pennsylvania, so there is no required state board exam or registration. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or engineering, followed by several years of hands-on IT infrastructure or software development experience. Industry certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or TOGAF are widely recognized by Pennsylvania employers and can accelerate your path significantly.
Which companies hire solutions architects in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring solutions architects in Pennsylvania right now include Databricks, JPMorganChase, and LMI, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Pennsylvania's concentration of large healthcare systems, financial institutions, and defense contractors means demand is distributed across both the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh metro areas.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most solutions architect jobs?
Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Mechanicsburg have the most solutions architect openings in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia leads because of its dense cluster of financial services firms, health systems, and enterprise technology companies, while Pittsburgh's growing technology sector and the suburban King of Prussia corridor add substantial volume driven by consulting firms, insurers, and defense contractors with major regional offices there.
Are there remote solutions architect jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, and more than most fields. Solutions architect work is primarily strategic and consultative, making it well suited to remote arrangements. About 56% of solutions architect openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how broadly the role has shifted away from on-site requirements. The portions most likely to remain remote are architecture review, documentation, and stakeholder presentations, while complex initial deployments may still require periodic on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a solutions architect in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving from a hands-on technical role such as systems administrator, cloud engineer, or software developer into an associate or junior architect position. Large Pennsylvania employers including Comcast, Highmark Health, and major consulting firms with Philadelphia and Pittsburgh offices regularly hire from these adjacent roles. Building a cloud certification such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate or Microsoft Azure Fundamentals and completing a documented personal or open-source architecture project gives candidates a concrete edge when competing for first-time architect openings.
Where can I find and apply to solutions architect jobs in Pennsylvania?
You can find and apply to solutions architect jobs in Pennsylvania on Migrate Mate, which lists current Pennsylvania openings updated on an ongoing basis. Search the listings for roles that match your experience level and specialty, then apply directly to the employers that fit.
