JOB DETAILS
High-Visibility Fuels Superintendent opportunity with a rapidly growing construction firm building large-scale fueling and energy centers across Hawaii and the Western U.S. This role is travel-heavy, with per diem and housing fully covered on Hawaii projects, and offers the chance to lead complex field operations from dirt work through turnover. Ideal candidates bring hands-on experience with underground fuel storage tank installation and removal, C-store or casino fueling buildouts, and strong coordination across subcontractors, inspectors, and jurisdictions. Tribal project experience and permitting knowledge are a plus. The Fuel Superintendent is responsible for assisting different departments in the pre-construction process and helps the team finish projects on time within budget. The person in this position must be very knowledgeable within the fuel construction industry, and possess strong interpersonal, organization, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Driver’s License/CDL required.
- 5+ years’ experience in equipment operating, working with grades and reading blueprints.
- Must have experience working with underground fuel piping for gas stations.
- Supervisory experience within the construction industry required.
- ICC Certification to handle, install, and test both underground and above-ground piping preferred.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Fuel Superintendent possessing the education and experience listed above performs the following:
- Develop a schedule and cost-effective plan for the completion of an assigned project.
- Collaborate with Project Manager to create pre-construction estimates and budgets for materials and labor.
- Lays out full-scale drawing of pipe systems, supports, and related equipment.
- Coordinating and scheduling the work activities of tradespeople, professionals, and laborers, communicating to deliver instructions and project assignments as appropriate.
- Regularly inspects work for quality and timeliness; prepares and provides progress reports to owners and engineers; makes recommendations for necessary modifications.
- Obtains required permits and licenses, executes construction contracts according to terms of the agreement.
- Monitors budget throughout the project and communicates any variances as they occur.
- Maintains any record related to job costs and inventory, sends to appropriate party.
- Cuts, threads, and hammers pipe to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders and benders.
- Modifies, cleans, and maintains pipe systems, units, fittings, and related machines and equipment, following specifications and using hand and power tools.
- Follows company safety guidelines and uses appropriate protective equipment, communicating any safety concerns with the safety representative as needed.
