The reliability, accessibility, and sophistication of these systems can determine the outcomes of conflicts before they begin. STR's Analytics and Command & Control (AC2) Division focuses on developing actionable, advanced technology solutions to provide asymmetric advantages within the information domain.
The Mission Applications (MA) Group within the AC2 Division specializes in ensuring the technology that STR creates produces outsized mission impact. Staff within the MA group have a deep understanding of missions and technology needs for national security with skills targeting transition of technology to operational use, including product management, UX Product implementation, software integration & mission engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, and program management. MA staff combine with other science and engineering staff from the various STR research and development groups to form dedicated product teams focused on accelerating the operational transition of cutting-edge software technologies.

Full Stack Engineer Jobs in San Diego: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a full stack engineer job in San Diego?
Focus your search on Sorrento Valley and UTC, where defense contractors, biotech software teams, and growth-stage startups cluster. San Diego employers in the defense and life sciences sectors tend to value full stack experience with cloud-native architectures and API integrations. Attending local meetups through the San Diego tech community and targeting Series A and B startups in the Torrey Pines and Carmel Valley corridors can give you a meaningful edge over applicants who apply remotely without local context.
Which companies hire full stack engineers in San Diego?
Employers hiring full stack engineers in San Diego right now include STR, Apple, and TEAM, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. San Diego's hiring base is a mix of large defense and biotech firms, fast-growing software companies, and early-stage startups concentrated in the northern coastal tech corridors.
Are there remote full stack engineer jobs in San Diego?
Yes, full stack engineering is well-suited to remote and hybrid arrangements since most of the work involves code, code review, and collaborative tooling rather than physical presence. About 40% of full stack engineer openings tied to San Diego are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with flexibility most common at software product companies and startups rather than defense or government contractors.
How can I get a full stack engineer job in San Diego with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in San Diego is targeting junior full stack or frontend-leaning roles at the city's startup ecosystem in the East Village and Carmel Valley areas, where smaller teams often cross-train new hires across the stack. Coding bootcamp graduates have found traction with mid-size SaaS companies and digital agencies. Building a portfolio with React and Node.js projects and contributing to open-source work used by San Diego tech firms signals readiness to local hiring managers who review GitHub profiles directly.
