Full Stack Engineer Jobs in Washington: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a full stack engineer in Washington?
Full stack engineering in Washington requires no state-issued license, so the path runs through education and demonstrated skill. Most employers in Seattle and Bellevue expect at minimum a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field, though strong portfolio projects and relevant certifications in cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure carry real weight. Washington's dense concentration of large technology employers means hiring standards lean toward practical, verifiable experience alongside formal credentials.
How much do full stack engineers make in Washington?
Full stack engineers in Washington earn a median of about $166,540 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $96,810 for the lowest 10% to over $255,350 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire full stack engineers in Washington?
Employers hiring full stack engineers in Washington right now include Rippling, Akraya, and Stripe, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Washington's technology corridor along the I-405 corridor from Redmond to Bellevue also includes a strong bench of mid-size SaaS companies and defense contractors that maintain ongoing full stack engineering teams.
Which Washington cities have the most full stack engineer jobs?
Seattle, Bellevue, and Redmond hold the most full stack engineer openings in Washington. Seattle drives volume through its concentration of large technology headquarters and well-funded startups, while Bellevue and Redmond are anchored by Microsoft's main campus and a cluster of cloud and enterprise software companies that have built substantial engineering organizations there.
Are there remote full stack engineer jobs in Washington?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 51% of full stack engineer openings tied to Washington are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how naturally the role translates to distributed work. Front-end and API development tasks in particular are well suited to fully remote arrangements, while roles that involve close collaboration on internal infrastructure or sensitive government contracts tend to require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a full stack engineer in Washington with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is building a portfolio of deployed projects that demonstrate both front-end and back-end capability, then targeting associate or junior engineer roles at Washington's mid-size software companies, which tend to offer more structured onboarding than large enterprise teams. Amazon and Microsoft both run new-grad programs that accept candidates with internship experience or strong academic projects in lieu of full-time history. Earning an AWS Cloud Practitioner or similar entry-level cloud credential gives Washington applicants a concrete edge, as does a background in QA engineering, data analysis, or IT support, all of which are recognized on-ramps into full stack roles locally.
Where can I find and apply to full stack engineer jobs in Washington?
You can find and apply to full stack engineer jobs in Washington on Migrate Mate, which lists current Washington openings across Seattle, Bellevue, Redmond, and beyond. Find the roles that fit your background and apply directly from the listing.
