Fund Accountant Jobs in Boston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a fund accountant job in Boston?
The strongest path into Boston fund accounting runs through the city's dense cluster of private equity firms, hedge funds, and mutual fund companies headquartered in the Financial District and Back Bay. Candidates with Big Four public accounting experience, CPA progress, or familiarity with fund administration platforms like Geneva or Investran stand out. Targeting mid-size asset managers in the Seaport District can be an easier entry point than the largest shops.
Which companies hire fund accountants in Boston?
Companies currently hiring fund accountants in Boston include State Street, JPMorganChase, and Wellington Management, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Boston's hiring base skews heavily toward established asset managers, private equity sponsors, and specialized fund administrators rather than banks or insurance carriers.
Are there remote fund accountant jobs in Boston?
Yes, though remote availability is more limited than in purely analytical roles because fund accounting involves time-sensitive reconciliations and close coordination with operations teams. About 22% of fund accountant openings tied to Boston are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with most arrangements being hybrid rather than fully remote. Net asset value calculation and investor reporting work tends to be the most remote-compatible part of the role in Boston.
How can I get a fund accountant job in Boston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Boston is through a fund administrator or a custody bank's fund services division, which regularly hire junior accountants and train them on fund structures. Roles titled junior fund accountant, fund accounting analyst, or portfolio accounting associate are common starting points. A degree in accounting or finance, paired with an internship at a Boston-area financial services firm or a Big Four rotation, gives candidates a meaningful edge in this market.
Which industries hire the most fund accountants in Boston?
The sectors hiring the most fund accountants in Boston are Banking & Financial Services, Investment & Asset Management, and Fintech, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Boston's position as one of the largest asset management centers in the country means those sectors generate a disproportionate share of fund accounting demand compared with most other U.S. cities.
