Finance Specialist Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a finance specialist in Massachusetts?
Most finance specialist roles in Massachusetts require a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or business. Massachusetts does not have a state-issued license specific to this title, but many employers prefer or require candidates who hold or are pursuing the CFA, CPA, or CFP designation. The CPA credential is administered through the Massachusetts Board of Public Accountancy, and earning it strengthens candidacy significantly for roles in healthcare and public-sector finance.
How much do finance specialists make in Massachusetts?
Finance specialists in Massachusetts earn a median of about $99,970 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $61,710 for the lowest 10% to over $155,150 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire finance specialists in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring finance specialists in Massachusetts right now include Entegris, Raytheon, and Mercer (Us), based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Massachusetts's dense concentration of financial services firms, academic medical centers, and life sciences companies means that finance specialist demand extends well beyond traditional banking into research-driven and mission-driven organizations.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most finance specialist jobs?
Boston, Billerica, and Cambridge have the most finance specialist openings in Massachusetts. Boston's dominance reflects its role as a hub for asset management, insurance, and academic medicine, while Worcester draws from UMass Memorial Health and a growing regional business sector, and Springfield sees consistent demand from healthcare systems and state government finance offices.
Are there remote finance specialist jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 100% of finance specialist openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how well the analytical and reporting nature of the role translates to distributed work. Financial analysis, budgeting support, and grant accounting positions are the most likely to be listed as fully remote or on a hybrid schedule.
How can I get hired as a finance specialist in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for financial analyst associate or junior budget analyst roles at Massachusetts's large healthcare systems and universities, which regularly hire recent graduates. Mass General Brigham, Boston Medical Center, and the University of Massachusetts system all post entry-level finance positions and offer structured onboarding for new graduates. A relevant internship, an in-progress CPA candidacy, or demonstrated Excel and ERP skills in a cover letter helps candidates without direct experience stand out.
Where can I find and apply to finance specialist jobs in Massachusetts?
You can find and apply to finance specialist jobs in Massachusetts on Migrate Mate, which lists current Massachusetts openings updated regularly. Find roles that match your experience and specialization, then apply directly to each employer through the listing.
