Finance And Accounting Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a finance and accounting in Massachusetts?
Most finance and accounting roles in Massachusetts require at minimum a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. For public accounting and CPA-titled positions, you must obtain a CPA license through the Massachusetts Board of Public Accountancy, which requires completing the required credit hours, passing all four sections of the Uniform CPA Exam, and meeting the experience requirement under a licensed CPA. Corporate and industry roles often hire candidates with a degree and relevant internship experience without requiring licensure.
Which companies hire finance and accountings in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts finance and accounting roles are posted by Vaco, Jobot, and Atrium and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Massachusetts's large financial services sector, anchor healthcare systems, and concentration of universities and life sciences firms mean openings appear across a wide range of industries beyond traditional banking and public accounting.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most finance and accounting jobs?
Boston, Salem, and Waltham have the most finance and accounting openings in Massachusetts. Boston dominates the distribution because of its deep concentration of asset managers, major hospital systems, and Fortune 500 headquarters, while Worcester and other cities draw steady hiring from regional healthcare networks, manufacturers, and state government agencies that maintain their own finance and accounting departments.
Are there remote finance and accounting jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 67% of finance and accounting openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how much of the work involves analysis, reporting, and system-based tasks that translate well to distributed teams. Roles most likely to offer remote arrangements include financial analyst, tax accountant, and management reporting positions, while accounts payable processing and controller roles are more commonly on-site.
How can I get hired as a finance and accounting in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to staff accountant or financial analyst associate roles at Massachusetts's large employers, which routinely hire recent graduates. Fidelity Investments, State Street, and major healthcare systems like Mass General Brigham run structured new-graduate and rotational programs that build core skills. A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance combined with an internship, even a short one at a local CPA firm or a university's finance office, gives candidates a meaningful edge and often converts directly to a full-time offer.
Where can I find and apply to finance and accounting jobs in Massachusetts?
