Financial Consultant Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a financial consultant in Massachusetts?
Becoming a financial consultant in Massachusetts starts with a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or a related field, followed by passing the FINRA Series 65 exam to register as an Investment Adviser Representative, which is required for fee-based advisory work in the state. Massachusetts registration is administered through the Secretary of the Commonwealth's Securities Division. Most employers also expect progress toward the Certified Financial Planner credential for client-facing roles.
Which companies hire financial consultants in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring financial consultants in Massachusetts right now include RSM, Rockland Trust Company, and WTW, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Massachusetts's deep concentration of mutual fund companies, insurance carriers, and regional banks means openings appear across a wide range of employer types, from large asset managers to community-focused credit unions.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most financial consultant jobs?
Boston, Lowell, and Woburn have the most financial consultant openings in Massachusetts. Boston dominates because it is one of the country's largest asset management and financial services centers, while Worcester and Springfield generate steady demand from regional banks, insurance firms, and wealth management offices serving central and western Massachusetts communities.
Are there remote financial consultant jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, and more than many client-service fields, since much financial planning and analysis work is desk-based and document-driven. About 100% of financial consultant openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how comfortably the advisory and planning portions of the role translate to virtual delivery. Portfolio review, financial modeling, and plan preparation are the functions most commonly performed fully remotely.
How can I get hired as a financial consultant in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a financial planning associate or client service associate role at one of Boston's large asset managers or wealth management firms, where you support advisors while studying for your Series 65 registration. Fidelity Investments and State Street both run structured new-graduate programs in Massachusetts. Lateral moves from banking, insurance sales, or tax preparation are common, and completing the first CFP coursework module gives candidates a concrete credential advantage with most Massachusetts hiring managers.
Where can I find and apply to financial consultant jobs in Massachusetts?
You can find and apply to financial consultant jobs in Massachusetts on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Find roles that fit your experience and location and apply directly to the employers posting them.
