Position Summary:
Responsible for researching, analyzing, evaluating, and administering corporate benefit plans and programs. Monitors benefit trends in the industry and stays abreast of applicable benefits legislation. Provides advisory and consultative services to employees and managers. Acts as liaison between employee and insurance providers; coordinates timely filing and maintenance of regulatory plan documents; coordinates benefit program initiatives; and provides overview of benefits during new employee orientation.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
- Researches, analyzes, evaluates, and administers benefit plans and programs.
- Surveys market data in order to determine company's competitive position in employee benefits.
- Responsible for planning, developing, and redesigning company benefits programs and analyzing benefit costs.
- Presents recommendations for change or enhancements to benefit offerings to management.
- Builds models and reporting tools to more efficiently manipulate raw or processed data.
- Provides problem resolution and research on cost savings opportunities.
- Processes benefits documents and government reports to ensure compliance with regulatory policies such as Form 5500s, PBGC filings and employee disclosures. Educates employees and facilitates requests for retirement/pension plan distributions. Creates and delivers new hire benefits orientation; provides training on use of online employee self-service module, oversees enrollment and Qualifying Events changes. Plans and coordinates the annual renewal and open enrollment period. Facilitates and/or coordinates benefit program initiatives and employee education programs. Monitors internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.
- Processes transactions on HRIS application.
- Sets up new vendor interfaces through quality assurance testing to production.
- Reconciles interfaces.
- Researches and responds to carrier identified discrepancies.
- Performs routine audits to ensure accuracy of data and reporting metrics of participation.
- Customer Service & Employee Counseling.
- Counsels employees (and potential employees) on plan provisions.
- Responds to and resolves escalated employee problems.
- Ensures all customer services needs are met during office hours.
- Vendor Relationships.
- Provides census data and other requested reports as needed.
- Represents BMC at internal and external meetings and develops key professional working relationships with vendors.
- Maintains internal invoice database, assists other internal stakeholders (finance, treasury departments, etc.) on paying and resolving vendor payment discrepancies.
- Leads projects as needed. Assists junior staff members with aspects of their job. May provide direction to benefits staff members. Adheres to department and hospital standards, including the following:
- Adapts to changes in the departmental needs including but not limited to: offering assistance to other team members, providing coverage for team members, adjusting assignments, etc.
- Conforms to hospital standards of performance and conduct, including those pertaining to patient rights, so that the best possible customer service and patient care may be provided.
- Utilizes hospital’s behavioral standards as the basis for decision making and to support the department and the hospital’s mission and goals.
- Follows established hospital infection control and safety procedures.
- Other duties as needed.
Job Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s degree (CEBS, Master's or business degree a plus) in Human Resources or Business Management or equivalent experience required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

Experience:
At least 5 - 7 years’ experience in Human Resources or related experience – preferably in administering benefits programs.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSA):
- Strong project management skills needed, along with proven track record for completing assignments/projects on time and on budget.
- Must possess strong problem solving, decision making, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication and writing skills required.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint required. Familiarity with Workday and Kronos.
Compensation Range:
$78,000.00 - $113,000.00
This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, skills, and certifications/licensures as they directly relate to position requirements; as well as business/organizational needs, internal equity, and market-competitiveness.
