ADP is hiring a Senior Manager, Search Optimization, spanning Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO).
We’re looking for a collaborative individual contributor who enjoys solving complex problems and helping ADP earn visibility with business buyers, search engines, answer engines, and AI agents. If you want broad scope, meaningful autonomy, substantial resources, and the opportunity to use evidence to discover and execute against growth opportunities, this role is worth a closer look.
As part of ADP’s Growth Marketing team, you will help grow qualified demand by improving how ADP is discovered, understood, cited, and recommended across traditional search, AI-generated answers, and emerging agentic experiences. You will independently own meaningful workstreams from diagnosis through implementation and measurement, partnering with Content, Product Marketing, Web, Engineering, Analytics, and agency teams.
This is an individual-contributor role. Manager or Senior Manager level will be determined based on experience and demonstrated scope.
What you’ll do
- Identify and prioritize search optimization opportunities across technical SEO, content, site architecture, internal linking, structured data, brand, entity, and third-party authority.
- Build and execute SEO, AEO, and GEO roadmaps tied to qualified traffic, conversion, leads, pipeline, and revenue—not rankings alone.
- Improve ADP’s visibility and citation presence across Google, AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Copilot, Claude, and other emerging discovery experiences—while ensuring content, data, and technical signals can be reliably accessed, interpreted, cited, and used by AI agents.
- Conduct technical audits, diagnose performance issues, and translate findings into clear requirements and acceptance criteria for web and engineering partners.
- Use search, audience, competitive, and AI-response data to identify opportunities and measure visibility, citations, share of voice, accuracy, qualified demand, and downstream conversion.
- Partner with CRO, Web, Content, and Analytics to improve high-intent landing pages and search journeys through structured experimentation.
- Identify scalable opportunities across templates, taxonomies, structured data, internal linking, and programmatic content, then drive them from requirements through implementation and quality assurance.
- Establish scalable search optimization standards, monitoring, measurement practices, and playbooks, and enable content and non-technical marketers to apply them effectively.
- Stay ahead of changes in search behavior, technology, and the competitive landscape, turning emerging developments into practical opportunities for ADP.

What you’ll need
- 3+ years of hands-on AEO/SEO experience, ideally in a technical AEO/SEO agency or similarly fast-paced environment, with a record of independently driving measurable results.
- Strong knowledge of crawlability, indexation, rendering, site architecture, internal linking, canonicalization, structured data, Core Web Vitals, and on-page optimization.
- Experience with tools such as Profound, Writer, Google Search Console, GA4, Screaming Frog, Ahrefs or Semrush, and enterprise analytics or reporting platforms.
- Strong analytical self-sufficiency: you can investigate an opportunity and move from data to hypothesis, action, and business impact without relying on a dedicated analyst.
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript fundamentals, plus the ability to partner effectively with developers.
- Clear written and verbal communication, sound judgment, strong follow-through, and deep comfort operating with autonomy.
- Curiosity about generative AI and practical experience evaluating or improving visibility in AI-powered search and answer experiences.
- Persistence and pragmatism when navigating the systems, stakeholders, and dependencies of a large organization.
Bonus points for
- Experience with B2B, SaaS, fintech, payroll, HCM, or other complex consideration journeys.
- Experience with large enterprise websites, log-file analysis, SQL, experimentation, content operations, programmatic SEO, or AI-visibility platforms.
- Actual compensation will not be less than the applicable minimum wage or minimum exempt salary requirement under federal, state and local laws.

Tips for Your Generative Engine Optimization Job Search
Quantify your GEO results concretely
Hiring managers want to see citation rates, featured snippet wins, or AI-sourced traffic lifts, not just that you ran experiments. Pull actual before-and-after numbers from your analytics dashboards and lead with those on your resume.
Tailor your portfolio to the job stack
GEO roles vary widely between teams focused on large language model integrations and those targeting answer engine visibility. Review each job description for the specific AI platforms mentioned, then surface portfolio pieces that match those exact tools.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists generative engine optimization openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Target titles that mask GEO work
Many GEO roles are posted under titles like AI content strategist, answer optimization specialist, or search experience manager. Searching only for exact-match titles means you miss a large share of relevant openings, so broaden your search terms.
Prepare a live demonstration for interviews
Interviewers in this field routinely ask candidates to walk through a real optimization in real time. Come ready to pull up a query, analyze how a generative engine surfaces content, and explain what structural or semantic changes you would make and why.
Negotiate scope alongside compensation
GEO is new enough that job descriptions often underspecify the role. In offer negotiations, clarify whether you own the AI channel strategy end-to-end or support another team, because the answer affects your leverage for title, resources, and future growth.
Generative Engine Optimization Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most generative engine optimizations?
The most active employers for generative engine optimizations right now are VML, ADP, and Eli Lilly, and the most openings are in Texas, Illinois, and New Jersey, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Demand is especially strong at technology companies, digital agencies, and large e-commerce brands building out dedicated AI search practices.
How many generative engine optimization jobs are remote?
About 100% of generative engine optimization openings are fully remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the digital nature of the work. Roles focused on content strategy, prompt development, and AI answer analysis tend to be the most remote-friendly, while positions embedded within larger SEO or product teams are more likely to require some in-office presence.
How do you become a generative engine optimization?
Start by building a strong foundation in technical SEO, structured data, and content strategy, then layer on hands-on experience with how large language models retrieve and cite information. Experiment with real queries across AI-powered search tools, document what content formats get cited, and build a portfolio showing measurable improvements in AI visibility. Staying current with how answer engines evolve is ongoing work in this role.
Can you get hired as a generative engine optimization with little experience?
Yes, entry-level generative engine optimization roles do exist, particularly at agencies and startups willing to develop talent. The most effective way to offset limited professional experience is to publish documented case studies, even from personal or freelance projects, that show you understand how AI platforms surface and attribute content. Demonstrating that you can form and test a hypothesis about generative search behavior matters more than years on a resume at this stage of the field.
What does the generative engine optimization interview process look like?
Most processes include an initial screening call focused on your background with SEO and AI tools, followed by a technical or portfolio review where you walk through past work and explain your methodology. A live exercise is common, asking you to assess a piece of content or a query and outline what changes you would make to improve AI citation rates. Final rounds typically involve a cross-functional interview with stakeholders from content, product, or engineering teams.
Where can I find and apply to generative engine optimization jobs?
You can find and apply to generative engine optimization jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Search for roles that match your experience level and specialization, then apply directly to each listing that fits.
