What Employers Look For
The qualifications that appear most often in quality analyst jobs.
- Experience writing and executing test cases, test plans, and defect reports
- Proficiency with bug tracking and test management tools such as Jira or TestRail
- Knowledge of QA methodologies including functional, regression, and UAT testing
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field
- Familiarity with Agile and Scrum development workflows
- ASQ, ISTQB, or ISO 9001 certification preferred or required for regulated industries
Tips for Your Quality Analyst Job Search
Tailor your resume to QA tools
List the specific tools you've used, such as Jira, TestRail, Selenium, or JAMA, rather than generic phrases like 'quality management software.' Hiring managers scan for named tools, and missing them can get your resume filtered out before a human reads it.
Highlight defect metrics and outcomes
Describe your past QA work in terms of defect detection rates, cycle time reductions, or audit pass rates rather than job duties alone. Concrete outcomes show the impact of your work and distinguish you from candidates who list only responsibilities.
Filter openings by your certification tier
Search for roles that match the certifications you actually hold, such as ASQ CQA, ISTQB, or ISO 9001 Lead Auditor. Applying to roles that list those certs as required, not just preferred, puts you in a stronger position from the start.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists quality analyst openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Prepare for a practical skills assessment
Many quality analyst interviews include a written test case exercise or a defect triage scenario. Practice writing clear, reproducible test cases in advance and be ready to walk through your reasoning step by step, because interviewers evaluate your thought process as much as your answer.
Negotiate scope before negotiating anything else
Before accepting an offer, clarify whether the role covers manual testing only, automation, compliance auditing, or a mix. Scope creep is common in QA roles, and agreeing to a narrow title that expands without a title or compensation adjustment is a frequent complaint in the field.
Quality Analyst Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most quality analysts?
The companies hiring the most quality analysts right now include CVS Health, Apple, and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), with the largest share of openings in California, Texas, and New York, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Demand is strongest in software, medical device, and financial services sectors.
How many quality analyst jobs are remote?
About 24% of quality analyst openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, though availability varies by specialization. Software QA and compliance documentation roles tend to offer the most remote flexibility, while roles tied to physical manufacturing lines or lab environments are almost always on-site.
How do you become a quality analyst?
Start by earning a bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, engineering, or information systems, then build hands-on experience through internships, entry-level testing roles, or QA volunteer work on open-source projects. Earning an entry-level certification like ISTQB Foundation or ASQ CQIA demonstrates structured knowledge to employers. Building a portfolio of documented test plans and defect reports gives you concrete evidence of your skills during interviews.
Can you get a quality analyst job with little or no experience?
Yes, many employers hire junior or associate quality analysts with no direct professional experience if you can demonstrate relevant skills through other means. Completing a software testing bootcamp, contributing test cases to open-source projects, or building a documented QA portfolio with sample test plans and bug reports all signal readiness. Entry-level roles in manufacturing quality control often value attention to detail and process orientation over formal credentials.
What does the quality analyst interview process look like?
Most quality analyst interviews follow a few consistent stages: an initial phone screen with a recruiter or hiring manager covering your background and tool experience, a technical round where you write or review test cases and may be given a defect triage exercise, and a final round with the broader team or a manager focused on process knowledge and cross-functional communication. Regulated industries such as healthcare or finance often add a compliance knowledge component.
Where can I find and apply to quality analyst jobs?
You can find and apply to quality analyst jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level and specialization, then apply directly to each one that fits.
