Summary of Responsibilities:
The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare (IDHW) requires a Software Quality Assurance Analyst 3 (SQAA3) to build and support automated testing frameworks and tests that will be used to verify that programs function according to user requirements and conform to established standards. The Software Quality Assurance Analyst will build (write code) and support automated testing, with a specific emphasis on the creation, execution, and management of automated tests across all levels of testing, including unit, functional, integration, user acceptance, and Production deployment validation testing. IDHW seeks a candidate with demonstrated skills and experience in building automated testing frameworks. The candidate needs to have experience and expertise in creating test plans and test scripts from the customer’s perspective to ensure that automation delivers the intended results and satisfies the specified business requirements. They will build automation to meet the technical needs of reusability, sustainability, and open standards, and to maximize the return on the investment in automation.
We are seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer with strong experience in software testing and a growing focus on AI-driven quality practices. This role combines traditional QA disciplines with modern AI/ML testing strategies, including validating AI models, automating test flows with AI-assisted tooling, and improving product quality using intelligent test frameworks.
This project is being developed using the Scrum (Agile) development methodology. The candidate should have demonstrated experience with executing and managing automated testing in an Agile development environment.
Key Responsibilities:
The person filling this position should have the ability to do the following assignments:
- Develop, update, and maintain testing standards and procedures.
- Use AI-driven tooling to improve test coverage, defect detection, and regression reliability.
- Understand test plans, test scripts, test cases, and links that connect to requirements and done criteria.
- Manage Test Case Repository and maintain test cases up to date.
- Participate in collaborative working sessions to develop test plans and test criteria.
- Design an automation framework using Selenium WebDriver, Java, and Jenkins infrastructure.
- Be responsible for maintaining the automation framework and regression test suites.
- Be responsible for the planning and control of test environments.
- Analyze and interact with complex sets of automated test assets and provide insights into alternatives or improvements to test systems, test framework components, test databases, and test servers.
- Provide solutions and recommendations for the execution of automated tests and troubleshoot test failures.
- Provide a user-friendly reporting framework for the automated test results in the areas of QA, UAT, Business, and IT Management.
- Identify and track system defects. Perform root cause analysis of the defects and work with the development team to resolve them.
- Partner with other QA's and architects to develop and establish quality assurance standards and best practices.
- Perform and coordinate system verification and validation test activities utilizing various tools.
- Perform quality assurance testing activities to ensure the applications, products, and/or releases follow the Quality Assurance standards of the organization.
Experience:
- Integrating automated testing processes, solving complex quality assurance data-processing problems, and designing and implementing test automation frameworks.
- Web Service test automation using the SoapUI tool.
- Cloud & Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) - Dockerize test frameworks, run tests in containers, using Selenium Grid or other UI tools.
- Performance & Load Testing (JMeter, Gatling, K6) - Create performance scripts, understand throughput, latency, error rates, Result analysis & recommendations.
- API Testing & Automation (Postman, Rest Assured, etc.) - REST & GraphQL, Authorization (OAuth2, JWT), Contract testing (Swagger, Pact), API automation pipeline integration.
- CI/CD Integration (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) - Creating pipeline workflows, Test reporting & artifacts management.
- Knowledge and understanding of fundamental concepts of agile software development, continuous integration, and automated testing.
- Knowledge and/or experience with testing batch, flat file, and web service-based interfaces.
- Knowledge and/or experience with automated regression test strategies and tools.
