The Krist Samaritan Counseling Center is a non-profit faith based organization committed toproviding affordable counseling and psychological testing for people of all economic backgrounds. Based on the philosophy that the mind, body, and spirit are interconnected, our highly qualified, trained professionals counsel and assess our clients within the context of their unique life experience.

The practicum student is an integral member of our training program and clinical team and is responsible for the mental health treatment of children, adolescents, adults, and/or couples.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Actively participates as a member of the clinical team in a collaborative manner to provide the best treatment outcomes for our clients by providing outpatient mental health treatment; consulting and collaborating with psychologists, mental health therapists, and other health care providers; and attending weekly consultations with clinical staff.
• Part time hours that meet University program requirements, typical business hours
• Manage a caseload of 6-10 weekly clients, however available for internship 15 hours per week
• Maintains clinical records in our EHR system by documenting symptoms, case histories, and treatment events.
• Will be responsible for 1 case conceptualization case
• Will be responsible for 1 presentation on a topic of trainee’s choice
• Updates career knowledge by participating in continuing education opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; and participating in professional organizations.
• Performs duties with accountability, competency, innovation, collaboration, compassion, and respect to create the best possible outcomes with exceptional client experiences while living out the Center’s service oriented mission.

Required for Practicum Students

• In a Masters level graduate program in psychology, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or social work
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) required
• 2 consecutive semesters (at least 6 months in duration)
• Have own reliable transportation to each facility site
• Availability for Tuesday morning virtual peer consultations
• Able to work independently on site with non-clinical staff present and supervisor available via phone (supervisor is not at all sites with students)
• Have completed a DSMV class and Foundation courses in assessment, interviewing skills and theories.
