Green Card Advertising Jobs
Advertising roles in campaign management, media planning, and brand strategy can qualify for green card sponsorship under EB-2 or EB-3, depending on your degree and seniority. Employers file PERM labor certification with DOL before sponsoring permanent residency, so targeting agencies and brands with established sponsorship pipelines shortens your path significantly.

Document your specialized advertising credentials early
PERM requires proving your role needs a specific degree. Gather transcripts, campaign performance portfolios, and employer letters that tie your media planning or brand strategy work to a defined specialty occupation before approaching sponsors.
Target agencies with active PERM filing history
Large integrated agencies and in-house brand teams at consumer goods companies file PERM more consistently than boutique shops. Search OFLC disclosure data to verify which advertising employers have certified labor applications in your target role category.
Use Migrate Mate to filter green card sponsoring employers
Search Migrate Mate to surface advertising employers with documented EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship history, so you spend your applications on companies that have already run the PERM process for roles like yours.
Clarify your EB-2 versus EB-3 eligibility before negotiating offers
EB-2 applies if your advertising role requires an advanced degree or you hold equivalent specialized credentials. EB-3 covers professionals with a bachelor's degree. Your tier affects both priority date timelines and the prevailing wage USCIS will scrutinize during adjudication.
Confirm the employer's PERM wage commitment upfront
DOL requires employers to pay the prevailing wage for your specific advertising role and location throughout the green card process. Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the wage level tied to your SOC code before accepting an offer.
Account for PERM's multi-year timeline in your career planning
PERM labor certification, I-140 approval, and adjustment of status can take two to four years or longer depending on your country of birth. Advertising professionals from high-backlog countries should ask prospective employers about concurrent filing eligibility at offer stage.
Green Card Advertising: Frequently Asked Questions
Do advertising jobs qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Both categories are available depending on the role and your credentials. EB-2 applies to advertising positions that require an advanced degree, such as a master's in marketing or communications, or where you can demonstrate equivalent specialized experience. EB-3 covers roles that require at least a bachelor's degree. Senior strategists, media directors, and brand managers commonly pursue EB-2, while account managers and coordinators typically fall under EB-3.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for advertising professionals?
The green card process through PERM leads to permanent residency rather than a temporary work authorization that must be renewed. Unlike H-1B visa, EB-3 sponsorship has no annual lottery, so your case moves forward based on DOL and USCIS processing timelines rather than random selection. The tradeoff is a longer overall timeline: PERM labor certification alone can take six to eighteen months before the I-140 petition is even filed.
What does the PERM process look like for an advertising role?
Your employer files an ETA Form 9089 with DOL certifying that no qualified U.S. worker is available for your specific advertising position at the prevailing wage. Before filing, the employer must conduct a regulated recruitment campaign, including job postings and documented outreach. Once DOL certifies the application, the employer files an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS on your behalf, and you or your employer then pursues adjustment of status or consular processing.
How can I find advertising employers that sponsor green cards?
Use Migrate Mate to search for advertising roles filtered by employers with active EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship history. You can also cross-reference OFLC public disclosure data to verify that a specific agency or brand team has certified PERM applications for advertising job titles similar to yours, which confirms they understand the process and have internal HR infrastructure to support it.
Can an advertising employer start my green card process while I'm on an H-1B?
Yes. An employer can initiate PERM labor certification while you hold H-1B status, and the two processes run in parallel. One practical advantage is that once your I-140 is approved and your priority date is current, you may be eligible to extend your H-1B beyond the standard six-year maximum under AC21 portability rules, giving you additional work authorization while your green card case is pending.
