Green Card Audit Specialist Jobs
Audit Specialist roles qualify for EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process, which requires employers to document recruitment efforts before filing an I-140 petition. Accounting and auditing positions consistently appear in DOL-certified PERM filings, making this one of the more sponsorship-accessible paths for foreign professionals in finance.

Align your credentials with PERM requirements
PERM filings for Audit Specialist roles typically require a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. If your degree is from outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation from a NACES-member agency before your employer begins the PERM recruitment period.
Target employers with active PERM filing history
Search DOL PERM disclosure data to identify companies that have certified audit-related roles in recent fiscal years. Employers already familiar with the PERM process for accounting positions move faster and make fewer procedural errors that could delay your case.
Understand EB-2 versus EB-3 before accepting an offer
If your role requires only a bachelor's degree, most employers will file under EB-3. Roles requiring an advanced degree or specialized professional credentials may qualify under EB-2, which can affect your priority date and wait time depending on your country of birth.
Ask about the prevailing wage before your offer letter
Your employer must pay at least the DOL prevailing wage for your audit role and location. Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the Level I through Level IV wage for your specific SOC code before negotiating, so you know whether the offered salary meets PERM requirements.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring audit employers
Filtering job postings by green card sponsorship willingness is difficult on general job boards. Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for Audit Specialist roles where employers have confirmed EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship history, cutting out the guesswork from your job search.
Track your priority date after I-140 approval
Once USCIS approves your I-140, your priority date is locked in. Monitor the monthly Visa Bulletin to know when your date becomes current, especially if you were born in a country with employment-based backlog. You can file I-485 adjustment of status as soon as your date is current.
Green Card Audit Specialist: Frequently Asked Questions
Do Audit Specialist roles regularly qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Yes. Audit Specialist positions are among the more consistently sponsored accounting roles in DOL PERM filings. EB-3 applies when the role requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field. EB-2 applies when the position requires an advanced degree or the candidate holds specialized credentials that distinguish them above the standard entry requirements for the role.
How does the PERM green card process differ from H-1B sponsorship for an Audit Specialist?
H-1B visa is a temporary nonimmigrant status renewed in three-year increments, and it is subject to an annual cap with a lottery. PERM-based green card sponsorship has no annual cap at the EB-3 level for most countries, leads to permanent residency rather than temporary work authorization, and follows a sequential process: PERM labor certification, I-140 petition, then I-485 adjustment of status or consular processing. The total timeline is longer but the outcome is permanent.
What documentation should a foreign Audit Specialist prepare before an employer starts the PERM process?
Gather a foreign credential evaluation for any non-U.S. degrees, your official transcripts, professional certifications such as CPA or ACCA with official documentation, and any employer letters from prior roles that confirm your job duties and years of experience. Your employer's PERM attorney will need these to draft the job description and confirm you meet the minimum requirements the role will advertise.
Where can I find Audit Specialist jobs where the employer is already open to green card sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter for Audit Specialist roles by employers with documented EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship history, which removes the uncertainty of reaching out to companies that have never sponsored employment-based green cards. This is more efficient than sorting through general postings where sponsorship willingness is rarely stated upfront.
Does having a CPA license improve my chances of EB-2 classification as an Audit Specialist?
A CPA license alone does not automatically qualify a position for EB-2. The classification depends on whether the role itself requires an advanced degree, not just the candidate's credentials. If your employer structures the position to require a master's degree in accounting or taxation, EB-2 becomes available. USCIS evaluates the job requirements as documented in the PERM filing, not your credentials in isolation.
