Green Card Network Technician Jobs
Network Technician roles qualify for EB-3 skilled worker sponsorship, and strong candidates with a bachelor's in network administration or a related field may qualify at the EB-2 level. Employers file a PERM labor certification with DOL before sponsoring you for permanent residency, not just a temporary work authorization.

Document your network certifications strategically
CCNA, CompTIA Network+, and JNCIA credentials signal to PERM-filing employers that your role qualifies as a specialty occupation. Organize certification records alongside your degree transcripts before your first sponsorship conversation.
Target employers with active PERM filing histories
Many network technician openings never advertise green card sponsorship upfront. Use Migrate Mate to filter companies that have filed PERM applications for this job title, saving you from applying to employers who won't sponsor.
Confirm your SOC code matches the posted role
DOL assigns prevailing wage determinations by Standard Occupational Classification code. Network Technician roles can fall under different SOC codes with meaningfully different wage levels, so verify which code your employer intends to use before the PERM application begins.
Ask about priority date strategy during the offer stage
Unlike H-1B visa, there's no annual lottery for EB-3 filings, but your priority date determines your green card queue position. Ask your prospective employer whether they'll file PERM quickly after your start date to lock in an early date.
Check the OFLC Wage Search before negotiating salary
Your offered salary must meet or exceed the DOL prevailing wage for your specific SOC code and work location. Reviewing the OFLC Wage Search yourself lets you enter salary negotiations knowing the minimum PERM-compliant figure.
Prepare for the DOL recruitment audit window
PERM requires employers to run mandatory recruitment steps and document that no qualified U.S. workers applied. You can't control this timeline, but knowing it typically runs 30 to 60 days helps you plan your start date and status transitions accurately.
Green Card Network Technician: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Network Technician role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship?
Most network technician positions qualify under EB-3 as skilled worker roles requiring at least two years of training or experience. Candidates with a bachelor's degree in network administration, computer science, or a closely related field may qualify under EB-3 Professional or, in some cases, EB-2 if the role requires an advanced degree. The PERM labor certification determines which classification applies based on the job requirements your employer documents.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for network technicians?
H-1B is a temporary work visa subject to an annual lottery, with a six-year base limit and employer-specific authorization. PERM-based green card sponsorship leads to permanent residency with no lottery, no annual cap at the EB-3 petition level, and no employer dependency once the green card is approved. The trade-off is a longer timeline: PERM recruitment, I-140 approval, and visa availability can take several years depending on your country of birth.
What does the PERM labor certification process look like for this role?
Your employer files a PERM application with DOL certifying that no qualified U.S. worker is available for the position at the prevailing wage. This requires a mandatory recruitment period of roughly 30 to 60 days, documentation of all applications received, and a prevailing wage determination from OFLC. Only after DOL certifies PERM can your employer file the I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS on your behalf.
How do I find network technician employers who will sponsor a green card?
Most job postings don't advertise green card sponsorship directly, which makes standard searches unreliable. Migrate Mate filters companies by their PERM filing history for network technician roles specifically, so you can prioritize employers who have sponsored similar positions before rather than guessing based on company size or industry.
Can I switch employers while my green card application is in progress?
Changing employers generally restarts the PERM process unless your I-140 has been approved for at least 180 days, in which case AC21 portability may let you transfer the approved petition to a new employer in the same or a similar occupation. Network technician roles share overlapping SOC codes with related IT support and infrastructure positions, which can broaden your portability options. Confirm the occupational match with your new employer before relying on portability.
