Green Card Cloud Architect Jobs
Cloud Architect roles qualify for EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process, which requires employers to document recruitment efforts before filing your I-140 petition. Most positions demand a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related field, and PERM timelines typically run 12 to 18 months before your priority date is set.

Document your cloud credentials before applying
PERM audits often scrutinize whether your qualifications match the job requirements exactly. Gather degree transcripts, professional certifications like AWS or Azure, and any credential evaluations early so your employer's attorney can draft a job description that fits your background cleanly.
Target employers with active PERM filing history
Not every cloud team is set up for PERM sponsorship. Search DOL's OFLC disclosure data to identify companies that have filed PERM applications for cloud or systems architect roles recently, which signals an established in-house process rather than a first-time filing.
Clarify EB-2 versus EB-3 eligibility during the offer stage
Cloud Architect roles typically qualify under EB-2 if the position requires a master's degree or equivalent, or under EB-3 as a skilled worker. Ask the hiring team which category they intend to file under before accepting, since EB-2 priority dates can move faster for most countries.
Use Migrate Mate to filter sponsoring employers by role
Finding employers who have specifically sponsored Cloud Architect green cards is faster when you can filter by occupation and sponsorship history. Migrate Mate surfaces this data so you're targeting companies with a real track record for this role, not guessing from job descriptions.
Understand how PERM recruitment windows affect your start date
PERM requires your employer to run DOL-prescribed recruitment steps before filing, which typically adds 60 to 90 days before the application goes in. Factor that into your timeline negotiations so your H-1B visa or other current status doesn't lapse while the labor certification is pending.
Request a prevailing wage determination before the job description is finalized
The DOL's OFLC Wage Search assigns your position to a wage level that locks in your salary floor for the entire PERM process. If your employer's job description lists too many senior responsibilities, the wage level rises. Review the O*NET occupation profile for Cloud Architect to see how duties map to wage tiers before anything is filed.
Green Card Cloud Architect: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Cloud Architect role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship?
Cloud Architect positions can qualify under either category. EB-2 applies when the role requires a master's degree or its equivalent in a specialized field like computer science or cloud infrastructure. EB-3 covers the role as a skilled worker when the minimum requirement is a bachelor's degree. Your employer's attorney determines the category based on how the job description is written, so the framing matters.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for Cloud Architect roles?
The H-1B is a temporary nonimmigrant status capped at 65,000 slots annually, with selection by lottery. PERM-based green card sponsorship has no annual cap at the EB-3 level for most countries outside India and China, and it leads to permanent residency rather than a renewable temporary status. The tradeoff is timeline: PERM labor certification alone takes 12 to 18 months, compared to H-1B processing measured in weeks to months.
What makes a Cloud Architect job description PERM-compliant?
DOL reviews PERM applications to confirm the job requirements are a legitimate business necessity and don't appear tailored to a specific candidate's resume. For Cloud Architect roles, requirements like multi-cloud platform experience or specific certifications must be standard for the industry. Overly narrow requirements, such as naming a single vendor's proprietary toolchain as mandatory, can trigger an audit or denial.
How do I find Cloud Architect employers who sponsor green cards?
The most direct approach is filtering by sponsorship history rather than relying on job descriptions, which rarely mention PERM explicitly. Migrate Mate lets you search for Cloud Architect roles filtered by employers with documented green card filing history, so you're identifying companies that have actually completed PERM for this occupation rather than ones that might consider it.
Can I switch employers after my PERM is filed but before my green card is approved?
Yes, but the rules depend on where you are in the process. If your I-140 has been approved for more than 180 days, AC21 portability lets you move to a similar role in the same occupational category without losing your priority date. Cloud architecture roles generally port well to similar titles like solutions architect or principal infrastructure engineer, but your new employer and attorney should confirm the match before you resign.
