Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer Green Card Jobs
Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer roles qualify for EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process, which permanently locks in your U.S. work authorization rather than requiring annual renewals. Employers file on your behalf, certifying that no qualified U.S. worker was available for the role.

Document your cloud credentials before applying
AWS, Azure, and GCP certifications strengthen your PERM file by demonstrating specialized qualifications beyond a generic degree. Collect original certificates, transcripts, and any employer-issued credential verification letters now, before a sponsoring employer requests them.
Target employers with active PERM filing history
Search Migrate Mate to filter Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer roles by employers who have filed PERM applications in the past two years. Employers with that history already understand the labor certification process and are far less likely to stall mid-hire.
Verify your degree maps to the job description
PERM requires the job description to match the minimum requirements used during the recruitment test. If your degree is in a tangentially related field, ask the hiring manager whether the role can legitimately list a range of qualifying degree fields to capture your background.
Ask about EB-2 versus EB-3 before accepting an offer
Cloud infrastructure roles often qualify under both categories. EB-2 typically moves faster for applicants from most countries; EB-3 is more appropriate if you hold only a bachelor's degree. Confirm which category the employer's immigration counsel is planning to use before you sign.
Check the prevailing wage before salary negotiations
PERM filings require your offered salary to meet the DOL prevailing wage for your job zone and location. Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the Level I through Level IV wage for your SOC code in the metro area where you'll be working.
Understand PERM recruitment timing relative to your status
DOL typically takes six to twelve months to certify a PERM application, and I-140 adjudication adds more time. If you're on an expiring work authorization, discuss whether the employer can bridge you with an H-1B extension or portability under AC21 before the green card clears.

Find Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer JobsSenior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship?
Most Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer positions qualify for EB-2 because they require at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field plus several years of specialized experience. If the role is structured to require only a bachelor's degree with no advanced requirements, EB-3 professional classification applies instead. USCIS evaluates the specific job description, not the job title alone, so the employer's documented minimum requirements determine which category fits.
How is green card sponsorship different from H-1B for this role?
H-1B is a temporary status requiring renewal every three years with no guaranteed path to permanency. Green card sponsorship through PERM leads to lawful permanent residency, meaning you're no longer dependent on an employer's willingness to keep renewing your status. There's no annual lottery for EB-2 or EB-3 petitions, and once your I-140 is approved, you can invoke AC21 portability to change employers without restarting the process, provided you move into a same or similar role.
How long does the PERM green card process take for a cloud infrastructure role?
From PERM filing to a green card in hand, most applicants from countries outside India and China should plan for roughly two to four years: six to twelve months for DOL to certify the PERM, six to twelve months for USCIS to approve the I-140, and then adjustment of status processing. Applicants born in India or China face significantly longer priority-date backlogs at the EB-2 and EB-3 levels and should factor that into their long-term planning before accepting a sponsoring offer.
What should I look for in a sponsoring employer's PERM job description?
The job description must reflect duties and minimum requirements the employer genuinely uses for the role. Watch for descriptions that list requirements beyond what the position actually needs, since overly narrow requirements can complicate the DOL recruitment test and invite an audit. The O*NET occupation profile for cloud infrastructure engineers provides a defensible baseline for core duties and typical education requirements that immigration counsel commonly reference when drafting PERM job descriptions.
How do I find Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer jobs with green card sponsorship?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by employers who sponsor employment-based green cards, letting you focus your search on companies already familiar with PERM and I-140 filings. Searching by role title and filtering for green card sponsorship saves you from applying to roles where the employer has never navigated the process, which is one of the most common reasons sponsorship stalls after an offer is extended.
