Align your credentials to the PERM job description
Your degree and experience must match the minimum requirements the employer lists on the PERM application. If your IT Architect role spans multiple specializations, confirm your transcripts and job titles reflect the specific technical domain the employer will certify to DOL.
Target employers with active EB-2 filing history
Large enterprise technology employers and financial institutions regularly sponsor IT Architects through PERM. Search OFLC disclosure data to verify an employer has filed labor certifications for architect-level roles before investing time in their interview process.
Search IT Architect openings on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters jobs by green card sponsorship history, so you can identify IT Architect openings at employers who have completed PERM filings for similar roles rather than cold-applying and asking later in the process.
Clarify the EB-2 versus EB-3 track before accepting an offer
Ask the hiring team which preference category they plan to file under. EB-2 requires a demonstrated business necessity for the advanced degree requirement, while EB-3 covers roles where a bachelor's degree is the standard. The choice affects your priority date and overall timeline.
Document your specialized technical scope for the I-140
USCIS scrutinizes IT Architect petitions to confirm the role genuinely requires specialized knowledge rather than general IT management. Gather project records, architecture diagrams, and performance reviews that show the complexity and depth of your technical decisions before your employer files the I-140.
Check the O*NET occupation profile for your specific architect role
IT Architect covers distinct specializations including enterprise, solutions, and cloud architecture. The O*NET occupation profile for each can help you and your employer accurately define the job duties and educational requirements used in the PERM labor certification, reducing the risk of an audit.

Find IT Architect JobsIT Architect Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an IT Architect role typically qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship?
Most IT Architect positions qualify for EB-2 because employers genuinely require an advanced degree or its equivalent in computer science, information systems, or engineering. If the posted role requires only a bachelor's degree, the employer files under EB-3 instead. The actual job duties and the minimum requirements stated in the PERM labor certification determine the category, not the job title alone.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for IT Architects?
H-1B is a temporary nonimmigrant status capped at 85,000 new visas per fiscal year and subject to a lottery. PERM-based green card sponsorship has no annual lottery and leads to permanent residency rather than a renewable work authorization period. The tradeoff is timeline: PERM labor certification, the I-140, and adjustment of status together take longer than a standard H-1B approval, but the result is lawful permanent residency with no renewal obligations.
What is the PERM labor certification process for IT Architect jobs?
Your employer must conduct a supervised recruitment process showing no qualified U.S. worker is available for the role before DOL certifies the PERM application. For IT Architect positions, the employer defines the minimum requirements, advertises the role, documents the applicant pool, and then files electronically with DOL. Only after certification does USCIS review the I-140 immigrant petition on your behalf.
Where can I find IT Architect jobs where the employer is already open to green card sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for IT Architect roles at employers with documented PERM and EB-2 or EB-3 filing history, so you're not guessing at sponsorship willingness during the interview process. Identifying employers who have already filed for similar roles is the most reliable signal that they understand and are prepared to run the full PERM process for your position.
Can my employer sponsor me for a green card while I'm on H-1B status as an IT Architect?
Yes. Employers commonly begin the PERM process while you remain in H-1B status, and an approved I-140 can support H-1B extensions beyond the standard six-year cap under AC21 portability rules. Starting PERM early is practical because the labor certification, I-140, and adjustment of status process runs concurrently with your existing authorization, protecting your ability to stay employed throughout.
