Document your ASE certifications for PERM
ASE Master Technician credentials and any manufacturer-specific certifications directly support the PERM labor certification's minimum requirements section. Gather official certificates, transcripts, and employment verification letters before your employer files, since DOL requires documentation that mirrors exactly what the job posting states.
Target community colleges with active PERM history
Public community colleges and technical institutes file PERM petitions more regularly than private training centers because they have dedicated HR and legal teams. Search OFLC's disclosure data for institutions that have sponsored Automotive Technology or CTE instructor roles in the past three years.
Clarify whether EB-2 or EB-3 fits your credentials
Most Automotive Technology Instructor roles qualify under EB-3 as skilled workers requiring a degree plus trade credentials. If you hold a master's degree in education or a related field, ask the sponsoring employer to evaluate EB-2 eligibility with their immigration counsel before PERM is filed.
Use Migrate Mate to find green card sponsoring employers
Search Migrate Mate to filter Automotive Technology Instructor openings by employers with verified green card sponsorship history. This saves you from applying broadly and then learning late in the process that an institution has never filed a PERM petition.
Understand the prevailing wage before negotiating your offer
Your employer must pay at least the DOL-certified prevailing wage for your role and location before PERM is filed. Run your job title and ZIP code through the OFLC Wage Search to know what wage level to expect, so salary negotiations don't stall or derail the filing.
Ask your employer about concurrent I-140 and I-485 filing
If your priority date is current when the I-140 is approved, USCIS allows concurrent filing of the I-485 adjustment of status petition, shortening your wait for work authorization. Confirm this option with your employer's immigration attorney as soon as PERM certification is received.

Find Automotive Technology Instructor JobsAutomotive Technology Instructor Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
What green card category covers Automotive Technology Instructor roles?
Most Automotive Technology Instructor positions qualify under EB-3 as skilled workers, since the role typically requires a combination of a degree in automotive technology or education and professional trade credentials like ASE certification. Candidates who hold an advanced degree in education or a closely related field may qualify under EB-2, but EB-3 is the more common pathway for this occupation.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for this role?
Green card sponsorship through PERM and I-140 leads to permanent residency, not a temporary work visa. Unlike the H-1B, EB-3 has no annual lottery for most nationalities, so your petition isn't subject to random selection. The tradeoff is a longer total timeline, typically two to four years for applicants without significant backlog waits, because PERM labor certification alone can take six to twelve months before the I-140 is even filed.
Can a community college or vocational school sponsor my green card?
Yes. Public community colleges and technical institutes are among the most active PERM sponsors for CTE and vocational instructor roles. They typically have established HR processes and immigration counsel, and because they hire on academic cycles, they often begin PERM filings well before a position start date. Check whether the institution has filed PERM petitions for similar roles using OFLC's disclosure data before accepting an offer.
Where can I find Automotive Technology Instructor jobs that sponsor green cards?
Migrate Mate lets you search Automotive Technology Instructor openings filtered by employers with verified employment-based sponsorship history. Because not every institution advertises its willingness to file PERM, searching by sponsorship track record helps you focus your applications on employers who have already navigated the process for similar roles.
Does my priority date matter for EB-3 as an automotive instructor?
Your priority date is the date DOL receives your employer's PERM application. For most countries other than India and China, EB-3 priority dates are current or close to current, meaning your I-485 adjustment of status can be filed shortly after I-140 approval. For applicants born in high-demand countries, check the monthly USCIS Visa Bulletin to understand your actual wait before committing to the process.
