Match your credentials to PERM requirements
PERM labor certification requires your education and experience to match the job description exactly. Get your foreign accounting degree evaluated by a NACES-approved credential evaluator so your qualifications map cleanly to a U.S. bachelor's in accounting before your employer files.
Target employers with active PERM filing history
Search the DOL's OFLC disclosure data for employers who have filed PERM applications for accounting manager roles. Companies with a pattern of PERM filings for this job title already have internal processes in place, which shortens your negotiation and onboarding timeline significantly.
Clarify EB-2 versus EB-3 eligibility early
If your offer requires only a bachelor's degree, most employers will file under EB-3. An EB-2 petition is available if the role genuinely requires an advanced degree. Confirm which category your employer plans to use before you accept an offer, since it affects your priority date strategy.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers
Filtering job listings for green card sponsorship by role title is time-consuming on general platforms. Migrate Mate surfaces Client Accounting Manager roles from employers with documented PERM sponsorship history, letting you focus your applications where sponsorship is a real possibility rather than an unanswered question.
Prepare for the PERM audit documentation window
DOL audits PERM applications and can request supporting documents from both you and your employer. Gather your transcripts, employment verification letters, and professional licenses now so your employer's attorney can respond to a DOL audit notice within the 30-day window without delay.
Negotiate I-140 concurrent filing into your offer
Once your employer files PERM, ask them to file the I-140 immigrant petition concurrently if your priority date allows it. Concurrent filing locks in your priority date sooner, which is especially valuable if your country of birth faces EB-3 backlog at USCIS.
Green Card Client Accounting Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Client Accounting Manager role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Most Client Accounting Manager positions qualify under EB-3 when the employer's minimum requirement is a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. EB-2 applies if the role genuinely requires a master's degree or if your employer can demonstrate a business necessity for an advanced-degree requirement. Your employer's immigration counsel determines the category based on the actual job duties and minimum requirements documented in the PERM application, not on your personal qualifications alone.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for this role?
H-1B visa sponsorship is temporary and subject to an annual lottery cap, which means selection isn't guaranteed. Green card sponsorship through PERM and an I-140 petition leads to permanent residency and has no annual cap at the EB-3 petition level. The tradeoff is timeline: PERM labor certification typically adds several months before USCIS even begins reviewing your I-140, and priority date backlogs can extend the wait further depending on your country of birth.
What does the PERM labor certification process require for an accounting manager role?
Your employer must conduct a formal recruitment campaign, including job postings and newspaper advertisements, to demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers are available for the role. The job description filed with DOL must match the duties you'll actually perform, and your qualifications must meet but not exceed those minimum requirements. Any discrepancy between the PERM filing and your actual background is a common audit trigger that can delay or derail the case.
How do I find employers who will sponsor a green card for a Client Accounting Manager position?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It filters Client Accounting Manager listings by employers with documented PERM and employment-based green card sponsorship history, so you're not spending time on applications where sponsorship is unlikely. You can also cross-reference the DOL's OFLC disclosure data, which shows historical PERM filings by employer name and job title.
Can my employer start the green card process while I'm on an H-1B or other work visa?
Yes. Your employer can file PERM and the I-140 petition while you're maintaining valid status on an H-1B or another work authorization. You don't need to change status to begin the process. Once your priority date becomes current and you've been in valid status for the required period, you file for adjustment of status with USCIS to complete the green card process without leaving the country.
