Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship in Head Of Product Design
Document your portfolio for PERM requirements
Your PERM file needs evidence that your role requires a specific degree, not just design experience. Compile detailed job descriptions, your academic credentials, and any advanced certifications before employers begin the DOL labor certification process.
Search green card sponsoring roles on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Head of Product Design roles by employers with green card sponsorship history. This lets you focus applications on companies already familiar with the EB-2 and EB-3 PERM filing process.
Verify your wage level meets OFLC prevailing wage standards
Before your offer is finalized, check the OFLC Wage Search for your job's SOC code and location. PERM requires the offered wage to meet or exceed the prevailing wage, and a shortfall will require the employer to refile.
Negotiate a green card commitment before accepting an offer
Get the employer's sponsorship commitment in writing during the offer stage, including who bears filing costs and the expected PERM start date. Verbal agreements rarely survive management or HR changes after you've already joined.

Find Head Of Product Design JobsHead Of Product Design Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Head of Product Design role qualify for an EB-2 or EB-3 green card?
Most Head of Product Design positions qualify under EB-3 when the role requires a bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction, or a related field. If the position requires a master's degree or the candidate has an advanced degree plus specialized credentials, EB-2 may apply. The employer's PERM labor certification filing determines the category based on the actual job requirements.
How is green card sponsorship different from H-1B sponsorship for this role?
H-1B is a temporary nonimmigrant status renewed every three years with no cap-exempt pathway. Green card sponsorship through PERM and I-140 grants permanent residency with no renewal cycle. There's no annual lottery at the EB-3 level, though priority date backlogs vary significantly by nationality. The total timeline from PERM filing to green card approval typically runs two to five years, compared to the H-1B's faster but indefinitely renewable structure.
What does the PERM labor certification process involve for a Head of Product Design hire?
PERM requires the employer to conduct a DOL-supervised recruitment campaign proving no qualified U.S. worker is available for the role. For a Head of Product Design position, this usually means posting the role publicly, documenting rejection reasons for U.S. applicants, and submitting a detailed application to the DOL. The process takes roughly six to eighteen months before the employer can file the I-140 immigrant petition.
How do I find employers who will sponsor a green card for a Head of Product Design role?
Search for roles using Migrate Mate, which surfaces Head of Product Design positions filtered by employers with documented green card sponsorship activity. Targeting companies with prior EB-2 or EB-3 filing history dramatically reduces the risk of pursuing an employer who is unfamiliar with or unwilling to complete the multi-year PERM process.
Can I switch employers after my green card sponsorship has started?
You can change employers after your I-140 has been approved and your priority date is current or within 180 days of adjustment of status filing, under AC21 portability rules. The new role must be in the same or a similar occupational classification, which for a Head of Product Design position generally means staying within product design or UX leadership. Switching before I-140 approval requires restarting the PERM process with the new employer.
