Document your dealing credentials before applying
Gather your gaming license, shuffle and dealing proficiency certifications, and any state-issued occupational permits. PERM requires your employer to verify your qualifications match the posted role, so having these ready speeds up the labor certification process.
Target tribal and commercial casinos with PERM history
Large tribal gaming operations and commercial casino groups are far more likely to have in-house immigration counsel and prior PERM experience than smaller card rooms. Prioritize venues that have sponsored foreign dealers before, even for non-poker table games.
Search sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter poker dealer roles by employers with active green card sponsorship history. This cuts through listings from venues that have never filed a PERM, saving you weeks of outreach to unresponsive HR departments.
Confirm the employer will cover PERM recruitment costs
DOL rules prohibit employers from passing PERM filing and attorney fees onto you. Get written confirmation before signing any offer that the casino will absorb these costs, which typically include the mandatory job posting, prevailing wage determination, and attorney fees.
Verify your wage offer meets the prevailing wage
Your employer must pay at least the DOL-determined prevailing wage for your specific dealing role and casino location. Cross-check the offer against the OFLC Wage Search to confirm your wage level is compliant before PERM is filed.

Find Poker Dealer JobsPoker Dealer Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does poker dealer qualify as a skilled worker for EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Yes. Poker dealer roles typically qualify under the EB-3 skilled worker category, which covers occupations requiring at least two years of training or experience. Dealing involves specialized procedural knowledge, licensed proficiency, and state-level certification in most gaming jurisdictions, which satisfies PERM's documentation requirements for skilled worker classification.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for a poker dealer?
H-1B requires your role to qualify as a specialty occupation needing a bachelor's degree, which is difficult to establish for a dealer position. EB-3 green card sponsorship through PERM has no annual cap at the petition level and leads to permanent residency. The tradeoff is a longer total timeline, typically three to five or more years depending on your country of birth and priority date backlog.
Which types of employers actually sponsor poker dealers for green cards?
Tribal gaming operations and large commercial casino groups are the most common sponsors. These employers have established HR and immigration infrastructure to manage multi-year PERM cases. Smaller card rooms and independent poker venues rarely have the legal resources or operational incentive to sponsor a foreign worker through the full labor certification process.
How can I find poker dealer jobs that offer green card sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search specifically for poker dealer roles posted by employers with a documented history of green card sponsorship. Generic job boards surface all listings regardless of sponsorship intent, which wastes time on venues that have no PERM experience. Filtering by sponsoring employers gives you a much shorter, more actionable list.
Can my priority date change while I'm waiting for my green card to become current?
Your priority date is locked in when your employer files the PERM application and does not change. What changes monthly is the DOS Visa Bulletin cutoff date for your birth country's EB-3 category. If that cutoff date moves backward, called retrogression, your previously current priority date may temporarily become unavailable again, delaying your I-485 filing or approval.
