Verify your role meets specialty occupation
AI Strategy Manager sits at the intersection of management and technology. Pull the O*NET profile for Management Analysts to confirm the degree requirement language matches your job duties before your employer files the LCA.
Search LCA filings by occupation code
Use Migrate Mate to filter employers by H-1B LCA filing history for strategy and AI-adjacent roles. This shows you which companies have already navigated the process, cutting your research time significantly.
Target cap-exempt employers for faster timelines
Universities, nonprofit research organizations, and government-affiliated entities are cap-exempt, meaning your petition bypasses the annual lottery. AI strategy roles exist at these institutions and offer a direct path to H-1B status year-round.
Confirm the prevailing wage tier before negotiating
Run your job title and location through OFLC Wage Search before salary discussions. DOL assigns wage levels I through IV based on experience, and your employer's LCA must certify at or above that level.
Document the business case for your specific role
USCIS scrutinizes strategy titles more than engineering roles because the degree field connection isn't always obvious. Work with your employer to prepare a detailed position description tying your AI strategy duties to your specific academic background.
Time your job search around the H-1B filing window
Cap-subject H-1B petitions must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start date. Starting your employer search by January gives both sides time to complete the LCA certification and assemble the I-129 petition before the window closes.

Find AI Strategy Manager JobsAI Strategy Manager H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an AI Strategy Manager role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes, if the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as computer science, business analytics, or management information systems. USCIS evaluates whether the role's duties are complex enough to require that specialized degree. Generic strategy titles with no direct degree requirement can face RFEs, so a tightly written job description is critical.
How do I find employers who actively sponsor H-1B visas for AI strategy roles?
Migrate Mate surfaces employers with verified H-1B LCA filing history, so you can see which companies have sponsored roles in strategy and AI before. Focusing on organizations with existing H-1B infrastructure significantly reduces delays, since their HR and legal teams already understand the filing process and timelines.
Can my employer file an H-1B petition for an AI Strategy Manager role while I'm on OPT?
Yes, and this is the most common path for F-1 graduates. Your employer submits the H-1B registration in March, and if selected, files the I-129 petition by April 1. If your OPT expires before October 1, cap-gap protection automatically extends your work authorization through the H-1B start date, provided the petition is filed on time.
Which degree fields support an H-1B petition for an AI Strategy Manager position?
USCIS accepts degrees in computer science, business administration with a technology concentration, management information systems, data science, and related quantitative fields. A general business degree without a technology or analytics component is harder to defend. If your degree is in an adjacent field, supporting coursework documentation and a strong position description help establish the connection.
What happens to my H-1B status if I'm laid off from an AI Strategy Manager role?
You have a 60-day grace period from the date of termination to find a new H-1B sponsor, change to another valid status, or depart the U.S. Your new employer can file an H-1B transfer petition during this window, and you can begin working for them once the transfer is filed, not just approved, under portability rules.
