Tips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship in Motor Winder
Verify your SOC code before applying
Motor Winder roles typically file under SOC 51-2022. Pull the O*NET profile for this code and confirm your resume reflects the listed tasks and tools. Mismatched job duties are a common reason USCIS issues an RFE on specialty occupation grounds.
Target employers with E-Verify enrollment
Sponsors must be E-Verify participants to hire on certain work authorizations, and enrollment signals readiness to navigate federal compliance. Search for manufacturers and utilities that already run structured immigration programs rather than approaching employers who have never sponsored.
Check prevailing wage before salary negotiations
Look up the Level I through Level IV wage for SOC 51-2022 in your target metro using the OFLC Wage Search before you receive an offer. Your offered wage must meet or exceed the DOL prevailing wage on the certified LCA or USCIS will deny the petition.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified sponsors
Search Migrate Mate to identify Motor Winder employers with confirmed H-1B LCA filing history in your target state. Filtering by actual filing activity saves time over cold-applying to manufacturers who have no sponsorship infrastructure.
Confirm specialty occupation standing with your employer
Because Motor Winder sits in a skilled trades category, your employer's attorney will need to document that the specific role requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. Get written confirmation of the job description and degree requirement before USCIS files Form I-129.
File premium processing to manage lottery timing
H-1B petitions are filed in April for an October 1 start date. If you're selected in the lottery, USCIS standard processing can stretch months. Premium processing upgrades adjudication to 15 business days and lets you address any RFE quickly without losing the fiscal year slot.

Find Motor Winder JobsMotor Winder H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Motor Winder role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
It depends on how the employer defines the position. USCIS requires that the role normally require at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. Many Motor Winder postings emphasize vocational training rather than a four-year degree, so employers typically need to document that their specific opening requires specialized electrical engineering or related academic credentials to satisfy the specialty occupation standard.
Which industries sponsor H-1B visas for Motor Winder jobs?
Heavy equipment manufacturers, electric motor repair firms, utilities, and defense contractors are the most active sponsors for this occupation. Companies producing generators, transformers, and industrial motors require winding specialists with precise technical knowledge. You can browse Motor Winder openings from employers with verified H-1B filing history on Migrate Mate.
How does the H-1B prevailing wage requirement affect Motor Winder offers?
The DOL sets four wage levels for SOC 51-2022 that vary by geography. Your employer must certify on the LCA that your offered wage meets or exceeds the applicable level for your work location. Check the OFLC Wage Search for your specific metro before accepting an offer to confirm the figures align and avoid a petition denial.
Can my H-1B employer change my work site after the petition is approved?
USCIS ties H-1B approval to a specific worksite listed on the LCA. If your employer moves you to a different facility or client site, they must file a new or amended LCA and potentially an amended I-129 before the move. For Motor Winders who rotate between plant locations, this is a common compliance issue that requires employer attention before any reassignment.
What happens to my H-1B status if my Motor Winder employer loses the contract or closes?
Your H-1B status is tied to that specific employer. If employment ends, you have a 60-day grace period to find a new sponsoring employer, transfer your H-1B through a portability filing, or depart the country. A new employer must file Form I-129 and a new LCA before you begin work, so starting that search immediately after notice is critical.
