Are you a finance professional who thrives on turning complex data into strategic insight? Do you want to play a meaningful role in shaping the financial performance of one of the world's leading reinsurers? If you're energized by impact, collaboration, and working at the intersection of finance and business strategy — this could be your next move.
About the Role
This role offers a genuine opportunity to influence Swiss Re's US Property & Casualty business at a senior level. As Finance Manager US Globals, you will serve as a trusted finance partner to US Market Unit leadership — providing the insight, challenge, and strategic guidance that drives both day-to-day decisions and longer-term business objectives.
This role offers exceptional exposure to senior market leadership and provides a strong platform for broader Finance and business leadership opportunities across Swiss Re.
You will own the planning, projections, financial analysis, and performance measurement for the US P&C portfolio, translating complex financial information into clear, decision-relevant narratives for senior stakeholders. Beyond the core FP&A remit, you will assess and support large or complex transactions within the US market, contribute to renewal analysis and external financial storytelling, and take an active role in cross-market and cross-functional initiatives across the broader P&C Finance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a strategic finance partner to senior US Market Unit executives, delivering insight, constructive challenge, and recommendations that directly support business decisions
- Track and analyze US renewal performance and key transactions, contributing to both internal and external financial storytelling
- Lead the development of financial plans, projections, and performance reporting for the US P&C business, ensuring high-quality outputs and compelling, clear narratives
- Deliver actionable financial insight that shapes executive decisions across the US P&C portfolio
- Lead or contribute to strategic initiatives and ad hoc projects at US Market Unit and P&C segment level, bringing a solutions-oriented mindset
- Build trusted partnerships across a global Finance network to deliver consistent insight and influence enterprise outcomes
- Drive the evolution of Finance by improving how insight, planning, and performance management support business decisions
About the Team
The FP&A team sits at the heart of Swiss Re's P&C business, playing a pivotal role in driving financial performance and enabling strategic decision-making at the highest levels of the organization. We partner closely with US Market Unit heads and senior stakeholders, delivering transparency, accountability, and insight across performance, planning, and key business decisions.
We are a globally connected team that thrives on collaboration across regions, and we benefit from dedicated analytical support from our Bangalore hub. Our culture is defined by intellectual curiosity, high standards, and a genuine willingness to challenge constructively — because we believe that's how Finance creates real value.
We are committed to continuous improvement, both in how we work and in how we support the business. Joining this team means becoming part of a diverse, driven group of professionals who are passionate about delivering impact, growing their expertise, and actively shaping the future of the US P&C business at Swiss Re.
About You
You are a commercially minded finance professional who combines strong technical capability with the confidence to engage and influence at a senior level. You bring clarity to complexity, hold yourself to high standards, and are motivated by the impact your work has on real business outcomes. You are equally comfortable working independently and collaborating across a global team, and you bring a proactive, improvement-focused mindset to everything you do.
We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
- University degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline
- Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A): Significant hands-on experience in FP&A or a closely related finance role, with a strong track record of leading planning cycles, projections, and performance reporting
- Financial Modelling & Performance Reporting: Demonstrated ability to build, manage, and communicate financial models and reporting frameworks that drive decision-making at a senior level
- P&C Reinsurance / Insurance Business Knowledge: A solid understanding of the US Property & Casualty reinsurance or insurance business, including its key performance drivers, metrics, and commercial dynamics
- Commercial Judgement: Strong analytical capability paired with sound commercial instinct — the ability to move beyond the numbers and connect financial insight to business strategy
- Communication & Synthesis: Proven ability to distil complex financial information into clear, concise, and compelling narratives tailored to senior stakeholders
- Prioritization & Delivery: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities and consistently deliver high-quality outputs in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Adaptable Collaboration Style: Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively, knowing when to drive forward autonomously and when to bring others along — across functions, geographies, and seniority levels
The role will be located in either our Armonk, NY or Kansas City, MO offices. Our company uses a hybrid work model requiring at least three days in the office each week, with the option to work onsite full-time if preferred. This position is not eligible for full-time telework.
For Armonk, NY, the estimated base salary range for this position is $122,000 to $184,000. For Kansas City, MO, the estimated base salary range for this position is $112,000 to $168,000. The specific salary offered for this, or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget. At Swiss Re, we take a "total compensation approach" when making compensation decisions. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short-and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.

Match your credentials to specialty occupation standards
Finance Specialist roles must qualify as specialty occupations requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in finance, accounting, or a related field. Pull the O*NET occupation profile for your specific title to confirm the degree requirement before applying.
Target employers with active LCA filing histories
Search Migrate Mate to filter Finance Specialist roles by employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications for H-1B1 Singapore candidates, so you're targeting companies already familiar with your visa category rather than educating HR from scratch.
Verify the prevailing wage tier before negotiating
Your employer's LCA must certify a wage at or above the DOL prevailing wage for your role and location. Use the OFLC Wage Search to check the applicable wage level before your offer conversation, not after.
Confirm your employer's E-Verify enrollment early
H-1B1 visa employers must participate in E-Verify to file on your behalf. Ask about enrollment status during the interview process so you don't reach the offer stage with an employer who can't legally proceed.
Prepare a complete credential package before the consulate interview
Gather your degree certificates, official transcripts, and any CPA or CFA credentials ahead of your consulate appointment. Singapore-issued documents often need certified translations or apostilles if the consulate officer requests verification.
Understand H-1B1 renewal timing specific to your status
H-1B1 Singapore visas are approved in one-year increments, so your employer needs to file a new petition before each anniversary. Raise this cycle with HR during the offer stage to confirm they have a process for annual renewals.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Finance Specialist role qualify for H-1B1 Singapore visa sponsorship?
Yes, if the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a directly related field. Roles focused on financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, or compliance typically meet the specialty occupation standard. Titles where any general business degree suffices may face scrutiny, so the job description's degree requirement matters more than the title itself.
How does the H-1B1 Singapore visa differ from H-1B for Finance Specialist roles?
The H-1B1 Singapore visa has no lottery, a 5,400-visa annual cap that has never been exhausted, and is processed at the U.S. consulate in Singapore rather than through USCIS petition review. This means Singaporean Finance Specialist candidates can receive approval without competing in the H-1B lottery or waiting for a USCIS adjudication cycle, which makes the timeline far more predictable.
How do I find employers who have actually sponsored H-1B1 Singapore Finance Specialist roles before?
Migrate Mate surfaces employers with verified Labor Condition Application filing histories filtered by visa category and occupation. Targeting companies with prior LCA filings for Finance Specialist or comparable financial roles means your employer already understands the H-1B1 Singapore process, reducing the risk of a deal falling through because HR isn't familiar with the visa.
What documents should I have ready before my H-1B1 consulate interview as a Finance Specialist?
Bring your degree certificates and official transcripts, your certified LCA from DOL, the job offer letter specifying your title and salary, your DS-160 confirmation, and any professional credentials such as a CPA or CFA charter. If you hold licenses issued in Singapore, carry originals and certified copies in case the consulate officer requests documentation of your professional standing.
Can I stay in the U.S. while my employer files a renewal for my H-1B1 status?
Yes, but the H-1B1 Singapore visa doesn't carry the automatic cap-gap protection that H-1B holders receive. Your employer needs to file the renewal petition and have it approved before your current status expires. Build at least three months of lead time into your annual renewal cycle to account for any LCA certification delays at DOL before the USCIS petition is filed.
