Entry Level Health Physicist Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level health physicist job?
Employers hiring at the entry level typically look for a bachelor's or master's degree in health physics, medical physics, nuclear engineering, or a closely related field. Internship experience at a hospital, nuclear facility, or national laboratory gives candidates a clear edge. Familiarity with radiation detection equipment, dosimetry, and regulatory compliance standards also strengthens an application at this stage.
Which companies hire entry level health physicists?
Companies hiring entry level health physicists right now include Trinity Health, Medpace, and OU Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. At this level, hiring tends to come from government contractors, hospital systems, nuclear power operators, and federal agencies that bring on new graduates for hands-on radiation safety roles.
Are there remote entry level health physicist jobs?
Yes, though most positions at this level are on-site given the hands-on nature of radiation monitoring and safety work. About 7% of entry level health physicist openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those tend to lean toward regulatory review, data analysis, or consulting support roles that don't require direct equipment handling.
Are these new grad health physicist jobs?
Yes, many of these listings are new grad and junior roles that welcome candidates with little or no professional experience. A new grad-friendly posting typically accepts zero to two years of experience, counts internships or co-op work toward the requirement, or explicitly invites recent graduates to apply. Degree-level credentials and any hands-on lab or field exposure are what these employers evaluate.
Which industries hire the most entry level health physicists?
Entry Level health physicist roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Education, and Science & Research, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Those sectors drive the most entry level hiring because they operate under strict radiation safety regulations and rely on a steady pipeline of new graduates to fill dosimetry, monitoring, and compliance support positions.
