New York also requires registration that must be renewed every three years. Most hospital employers in New York additionally expect completion of a PGY-1 pharmacy residency, and clinical specialty roles often require a PGY-2 or board certification in a relevant specialty area.
How much do hospital pharmacists make in New York?
Hospital pharmacists in New York earn a median of about $142,090 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $92,910 for the lowest 10% to over $174,550 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire hospital pharmacists in New York?
Employers hiring hospital pharmacists in New York right now include Nicholas H. Noyes Memorial Hospital, NYC Health + Hospitals, and Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's dense network of academic medical centers, large public hospital systems, and integrated health networks means consistent openings appear across all five boroughs as well as upstate regions throughout the year.
Which New York cities have the most hospital pharmacist jobs?
Elmwood Ave, New York, and Rochester have the most hospital pharmacist openings in New York. New York City drives the largest volume by far given its concentration of major academic medical centers and public hospital systems, while Buffalo and Rochester generate steady demand through their anchor health institutions and university-affiliated teaching hospitals that serve large regional patient populations.
Are there remote hospital pharmacist jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of hospital pharmacist openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how hands-on and patient-facing most hospital pharmacy roles are by nature. The parts of the role most likely to offer remote or hybrid arrangements are specialty telepharmacy services and remote clinical review positions, which some large New York health systems have expanded in recent years.
How can I get hired as a hospital pharmacist in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing a PGY-1 pharmacy residency, and large New York employers including NewYork-Presbyterian, Northwell Health, and Montefiore Medical Center run accredited programs matched through the ASHP National Matching Service each year. New graduates without residency experience can also apply to staff pharmacist or pharmacy intern roles at NYC Health + Hospitals or regional upstate systems. Holding an active New York license and a board-eligible certification in a high-demand specialty like oncology or critical care strengthens candidacy considerably.
