Telemetry RN Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a telemetry rn in New York?
You become a telemetry rn in New York by earning an associate or bachelor of science in nursing, passing the NCLEX-RN, and obtaining an active registered nurse license from the New York State Education Department. Once licensed, you apply to telemetry or cardiac step-down units at New York hospitals. Most employers expect ACLS certification before or shortly after hire, and familiarity with cardiac rhythm interpretation is a standard expectation in the New York market.
How much do telemetry RNs make in New York?
Telemetry RNs in New York earn a median of about $109,440 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $79,760 for the lowest 10% to over $157,090 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire telemetry rns in New York?
Employers hiring telemetry rns in New York right now include Kaleida Health, Newark Wayne Community Hospital, and Trinity Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's density of large academic medical centers and regional health systems means telemetry openings are spread across both the major metros and community hospitals upstate.
Which New York cities have the most telemetry rn jobs?
The cities with the most telemetry rn openings in New York are Buffalo, Rochester, and Albany. New York City drives the largest share of listings through its concentration of academic medical centers and Level I trauma hospitals, while Buffalo and Rochester reflect the presence of major regional health systems like Kaleida Health and Rochester Regional Health that maintain full cardiac and step-down units.
Are there remote telemetry rn jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're rare. Telemetry nursing is a hands-on bedside role that requires direct patient monitoring, so most positions are on-site. About 0% of telemetry rn openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those roles typically involve remote cardiac monitoring or telehealth triage rather than traditional bedside telemetry duties.
How can I get hired as a telemetry rn in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a new graduate residency program at a large New York hospital system. Northwell Health and NYU Langone Health both run structured nurse residency programs that accept new NCLEX-RN passers and rotate them through telemetry and cardiac step-down units. Coming from a med-surg or emergency department role also positions you well, since those lateral moves are widely accepted as equivalent preparation. Completing an ACLS course before applying gives your application a concrete edge in a competitive field.
Where can I find and apply to telemetry rn jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to telemetry rn jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings, find roles that fit your experience and preferred location, and apply directly to the ones that match.
