Patient Registrar Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a patient registrar in New York?
Most patient registrar positions in New York require a high school diploma or equivalent, though many employers prefer candidates with some college coursework in healthcare administration or a related field. New York does not require a state-issued license specific to this role, but employers value nationally recognized credentials such as the Certified Healthcare Access Associate designation from the National Association of Healthcare Access Management, which signals competency in registration and insurance processes.
Which companies hire patient registrars in New York?
Employers hiring patient registrars in New York right now include NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, Spring Health, and Samaritan Medical Center, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. New York's dense concentration of academic medical centers, community hospitals, and multi-site health systems creates steady, year-round demand for registration staff at all experience levels.
Which New York cities have the most patient registrar jobs?
Cortlandt Manor, Flushing, and Bronxville have the most patient registrar openings in New York. New York City drives the largest share of listings because of its scale and the size of systems like Northwell Health, Mount Sinai, and NYC Health and Hospitals, while Buffalo and Albany generate strong volume through regional academic medical centers and community hospital networks that serve large upstate populations.
Are there remote patient registrar jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of patient registrar openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting that most of the work is conducted at hospital front desks, emergency department check-in areas, and outpatient clinic counters. The portions most likely to appear in remote or hybrid formats are insurance verification, pre-authorization follow-up, and telephone-based pre-registration for scheduled procedures.
How can I get hired as a patient registrar in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to patient access associate or patient service representative openings at large New York health systems, which routinely hire candidates with no prior clinical or registration experience and train them on-site. Northwell Health, NYC Health and Hospitals, and Albany Medical Center all run structured onboarding programs for new staff. Coming from a customer service, retail, or medical billing background gives candidates a measurable edge, and completing even a short medical terminology course strengthens an application noticeably.
Where can I find and apply to patient registrar jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to patient registrar jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings, identify the roles that match your experience and preferred location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
