Radiology Technologist Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a radiology technologist in New York?
To become a radiology technologist in New York, you must hold a license issued by the New York State Department of Health under the Radiologic Technology Certification program. Candidates must complete an accredited radiologic technology program, typically an associate or bachelor's degree, and pass the ARRT Radiography examination. New York is one of the few states with mandatory licensure, so you must apply to the state directly before practicing, even with national ARRT credentials.
How much do radiology technologists make in New York?
Radiology technologists in New York earn a median of about $98,470 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $67,540 for the lowest 10% to over $129,310 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire radiology technologists in New York?
Employers hiring radiology technologists in New York right now include NYU Langone Health, Trinity Health, and Albany Medical Center, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's density of large academic medical centers, regional hospital networks, and independent outpatient imaging groups means openings exist across a wide range of practice settings throughout the state.
Which New York cities have the most radiology technologist jobs?
The cities with the most radiology technologist openings in New York are New York, Albany, and Brooklyn. New York City dominates due to the sheer concentration of major hospital systems and specialty imaging centers, while Buffalo and Albany reflect strong regional health systems, including Kaleida Health and Albany Medical Center, that anchor imaging employment across upstate communities.
Are there remote radiology technologist jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're rare. Radiology technology is a hands-on clinical role that requires direct patient contact and equipment operation, making fully remote work the exception rather than the rule. About 1% of radiology technologist openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026. The small share of remote opportunities tend to involve teleradiology support functions or quality assurance roles rather than direct imaging.
How can I get hired as a radiology technologist in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for staff radiographer positions at large New York hospital systems that accept new graduates, including Northwell Health and NewYork-Presbyterian, both of which have onboarded new grads from accredited programs into supervised rotations. Completing your New York State licensure application immediately after graduation removes the most common hiring barrier. Candidates who have clinical externships at recognized New York facilities and hold current CPR certification are consistently prioritized over those without in-state clinical hours.
Where can I find and apply to radiology technologist jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to radiology technologist jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state from hospitals, imaging centers, and health systems. Find roles that fit your experience and preferred location, then apply directly to employers from the listings.
