Healthcare Consultant Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a healthcare consultant in New York?
Most healthcare consultant roles in New York require at minimum a bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, public health, business, or a clinical field, with many employers preferring a master's degree such as an MHA or MBA. There is no single state-issued license required, but familiarity with New York State Department of Health regulations and Medicaid policy is a meaningful differentiator. Voluntary credentials such as the Certified Healthcare Consultant designation strengthen a candidate's profile when competing in New York's dense market.
How much do healthcare consultants make in New York?
Healthcare consultants in New York earn a median of about $112,250 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $64,900 for the lowest 10% to over $209,440 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire healthcare consultants in New York?
Employers hiring healthcare consultants in New York right now include Interborough Developmental & Consultation, Guidepoint, and Cambridge Pharma Consulting, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's concentration of major academic medical centers, large managed care plans, and global consulting firms with healthcare practices means the range of employer types is broader here than in most other states.
Which New York cities have the most healthcare consultant jobs?
New York, Brooklyn, and Buffalo have the most healthcare consultant openings in New York. New York City dominates because it is home to a dense cluster of health systems, insurance carriers, and consulting firm offices, while Albany draws roles tied to state government health agencies and policy work, and Buffalo benefits from the regional presence of major health systems and academic medical institutions in western New York.
Are there remote healthcare consultant jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than many healthcare roles, because consulting work is largely analytical and deliverable-driven rather than hands-on or site-dependent. About 31% of healthcare consultant openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how much of the work involves research, modeling, and client presentations rather than in-person clinical or facility operations. Strategy, data analytics, and health IT advisory roles tend to be the most remote-compatible.
How can I get hired as a healthcare consultant in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an analyst or associate consultant role at a firm that runs structured new-graduate programs, such as the healthcare practices at large management consulting firms or the strategy and innovation teams at major New York health systems like Northwell Health or NYC Health and Hospitals. A master's degree in health administration or public health, combined with an internship at a New York State Department of Health-regulated organization, substantially improves your chances. Lateral moves from roles in health plan operations, hospital administration, or clinical coordination are also a well-worn entry point.
Where can I find and apply to healthcare consultant jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to healthcare consultant jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring in the state right now. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly from the listings.
