Patient Registrar Jobs in New Jersey: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a patient registrar in New Jersey?
Patient registrar positions in New Jersey do not require a state-issued license, but most employers expect at minimum a high school diploma and familiarity with medical terminology. Many candidates enter through healthcare administration programs at New Jersey community colleges such as Middlesex College or Bergen Community College. Completing a certified healthcare access associate credential through the National Association of Healthcare Access Management strengthens applications at competitive New Jersey health systems.
Which companies hire patient registrars in New Jersey?
Companies currently hiring patient registrars in New Jersey include Inspira Health Network, Valley Health System (New Jersey), and Saint Michael's Medical Center, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. New Jersey's dominant multi-hospital systems tend to post the highest volume of openings, particularly for registration roles across emergency, outpatient, and specialty clinic departments.
Which New Jersey cities have the most patient registrar jobs?
Paramus, Vineland, and Woodbury account for the most patient registrar openings in New Jersey. The concentration follows the state's largest health system campuses, with Newark anchored by major academic medical centers, Trenton driven by regional hospital networks serving central New Jersey, and Camden supported by Cooper University Health Care and neighboring South Jersey facilities.
Are there remote patient registrar jobs in New Jersey?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of patient registrar openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how central in-person patient interaction is to most registration workflows. When remote roles do appear, they tend to cover pre-registration, insurance verification, and telephone scheduling tasks that do not require a patient to be physically present.
How can I get hired as a patient registrar in New Jersey with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to patient access representative or front desk medical receptionist roles at New Jersey urgent care networks or outpatient clinics, where volume is high and on-the-job training is common. Large systems like RWJBarnabas Health and Hackensack Meridian Health hire entry-level candidates for float pool and per diem registration positions that build the Epic or Cerner experience full-time roles require. A healthcare administration certificate from a New Jersey community college adds a concrete credential for candidates with no direct healthcare background.
