Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Cardiac Telemetry RN with a minimum of 2 years of cardiac floor experience for a night shift position requiring NC or Compact RN licensure.

Details

• Cardiac Telemetry/PCU/DOU/IMC Stepdown unit setting
• Patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:4 for surgical step down and 1:5-6 for lower acuity
• Treats patients with Atrial Fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, valve disorders, endocarditis, cardiomyopathy, PVD/PAD, vasculitis, carotid stenosis, and venous stasis
• Supports patients undergoing CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, Mitral Clip, LAAO/Watchman, VATS, carotid endarterectomy, fem-pop bypass, amputations, and other cardiac/vascular/thoracic surgeries
• Manages post-cath, post-DCCV, post-electrophysiology, and pacemaker placement patients
• Uses arterial lines, Doppler, bladder scanner, EKG, femoral sheaths, TR band, Fem-stop, chest tubes, and epicardial pacing wires
• Utilizes Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR communication systems
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:45-7:15
• 36 hours per week only
• 13-26 week contract lengths accepted
• Weekend requirement of 4 shifts per 4-week period, with some flexibility
• Floating required within unit rotation; not first to float
• May be assigned to Storm Team or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or mass casualty situations
• Possible mid-contract consolidation to a Centralized Office with reassignment to units as needed

Requirements

• Active NC or Compact RN license (pending license/certs OK for consideration)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of cardiac floor experience required
• Cardiac med/surg tele or step down charge experience preferred
• Prior travel experience required unless candidate has more than 24 months of cardiac experience
• Skilled in cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and sheath removal
• Experience managing cardiac drips required; titration skills preferred
• Experience with chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac), external CPAP/BiPAP, nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management
• Arterial line management, wound care/wound vac, and charge experience preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required (pending references OK at submission)
• Must pass state board of nursing license verification and NURSYS verification

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for a cardiac telemetry population including monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and post-procedural care
• Unit orientation is 24 hours with weekly orientation schedule
• Navy scrubs required
• Pre-start modules (approximately 8-10 hours for acute care roles) must be completed online prior to start and annually
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• RTO of 7 days or less can be auto-approved as long as it does not fall on a holiday; additional RTO requires facility approval
• No RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment
• RTO cannot be requested after signing
• Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate
• Travel pairs allowed if placed on different units with separate schedules disclosed
• First-time travelers considered only if they have more than 24 months of cardiac experience
• Former Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before reapplying and must disclose prior employment details for facility approval
• Current travel or per diem clinicians at the facility must choose between their current status and a new travel contract
• Every candidate will be interviewed by the hiring manager before an offer is made
