Entry Level Hvac Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level hvac engineer job?
Entry level hvac engineer roles typically look for a degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, along with any internship, co-op, or hands-on project experience you can point to. Familiarity with load calculation software, ASHRAE standards, and AutoCAD gives candidates a clear edge at this stage. A portfolio showing even one real or academic HVAC design project helps you stand out among other new applicants.
Which companies hire entry level hvac engineers?
Companies hiring entry level hvac engineers right now include Johnson Controls, Trane Technologies, and Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level tends to come from mechanical and electrical engineering consultancies, building construction contractors, and facilities management firms looking to grow junior talent from the ground up.
Are there remote entry level hvac engineer jobs?
Yes, though on-site work is still the norm for most entry level roles given the hands-on nature of HVAC systems. About 9% of entry level hvac engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions typically involve design, drafting, or energy modeling work rather than field installation or commissioning.
Are these new grad hvac engineer jobs?
Yes, the listings on this page include new grad, recent graduate, and junior hvac engineer roles. A posting is generally new-grad friendly when it explicitly welcomes zero to two years of experience, counts internships or co-ops toward the requirement, or accepts a strong portfolio in place of full professional experience. These are the right roles if you are just entering the field.
Which industries hire the most entry level hvac engineers?
Entry Level hvac engineer roles concentrate in Manufacturing, Construction & Real Estate, and Energy, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Those sectors drive hiring at this level because they involve continuous construction, renovation, and energy efficiency work that requires trained junior engineers to support design and project delivery.
